Blossoms trellising up my spine this summer, weaving their way into the folds of my skin. The blooms that have caught my nose have been the thick moon petals of Magnolia, sweet creaminess of gardenia, and delectable sweet olive. This beautiful visual makes me think of the phrase I’m sure we’ve all heard, “grow a backbone” said with distain as if the florals that make up my back aren’t strength in & of itself. As if my softness wasn’t strength at all. Maybe they too forgot, in the strength of softness. I have not and perhaps neither should you 💐

🤍 TUBEROSE (Agave amica, formerly Polianthes tuberosa)

Did you know Tuberose is sometimes referred to as “The Harlot of Perfumery”? In the Victoria era, young and unmarried women were discouraged - and sometimes forbidden from diving their noses into Tuberose as it was said to provoke erotic urges, intense sexual arousal, and even linked to spontaneous or***ms? Obsessed with this!!

✨ Part of its allure comes from indole, a naturally occurring aromatic compound also found in jasmine, orange blossom, and even trace amounts in human skin secretions and breath during intimacy

✨A richly fragrant, night-blooming perennial native to central and southern Mexico known in Aztec culture as Omixochitl, or “bone flower,” it was used to flavor cacao drinks and in sacred floral offerings

✨Tuberose has been treasured in perfumery since the 17th century - and likely much earlier as a botanical used to scent vessels and ritual spaces

✨Today it’s cultivated around the world, especially in Mexico, France, and India, where its intoxicating blooms continue to captivate so many noses!

✨One of the most intensely fragrant flowers, tuberose releases a lush blend of creamy, sweet, and spicy notes that can continue to perfume the air for up to 48 hours after being picked 😍

We’re obsessed with tuberose because it’s one of the most exquisite notes in the new formulation of INVOKE, launching this fall!

Stay tuned for more on INVOKE, our Eau de Parfum rebrand, and the next exciting evolution of Smoke Perfume 🐚

This stunning marsh image reminds me of something I’ve been thinking a lot about around ritual in my own life and within Smoke, is how incredibly simple my own rituals are.

My rituals used to be soooo elaborate back in the day, and that was lovely, but what has stayed all these years are the simple ones, and how the simplicity of them is part of the magic and medicine.

With all that is available to us, and all that we navigate in this world, I’ve really allowed myself to embrace how easy ritual can be & wants to be in this chapter of my life ✨

Sometimes simply sitting my the waters edge, is all the ritual I need 🕯️More on this to come, stay tuned as smoke evolves for simple ritual ideas to implement into your own daily life 🤍

The energy of this potent Full Moon in Aquarius and Jupiter Cazimi today has me feeling inspired about the thresholds I’m on in my life and business 🪐🌹✨On such charged astrological days I like to keep my rituals simple and intimate: A candlelit salt bath, some prayers whispered to the waters and my own heart, and a full body caress on damp skin with our Full Moon Rose Oil with organic & locally grown roses, rose geranium, and yellow mandarin 🕯️

How are you spending this day?

Ancient bathhouses have always inspired my romantic heart 🫀🌸✨The devotional practice of bathing and the tenderness of naked bodies simply existing! Nurturing their vessels and caring for themselves brings me the biggest sigh of relief. I think with a practice as sacred as bathing, the community aspect feels emotional. These practices span so many cultures & generations of humans and still exists in many other parts of the world today 🤍

Here are some dreamy bathhouses that have me kickin my feet lately 🌞
