And it was my absolute pleasure. β˜ΊοΈπŸ–€

Sometimes the road we find ourselves on, is a little less straightforward than maybe we would have expected.

I remember the first time this little guy smiled at me! 😍😍 Boy he made me work for it! (And duh it was totally worth itπŸ‘ŒπŸ½)

I also remember the first time I hugged his mama. πŸ₯ΉShe’d accepted me into her home and trusted me to help her along their journey.

We went about β€œthe road” together for a bit, bending and turning when it was needed- until they found their own comfortable cruising speed. ☺️☺️

Ok, ok maybe my analogy is whack - lol. But the point is that I am happy to be here to walk with you on whatever journey you find yourself. πŸ™πŸ½

You were never meant to do this alone- Plus, I’m right here! πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

The first few days post birth can be so tricky! And they are different from the weeks that follow.

If you’re in the hospital or just recently gotten home and are having a hard time latching baby, here are four steps I suggest you take moving forward:

1.) give yourself a moment! You just went through something spectacularly and wonderfully traumatic. Your body is already under stress related to recovery, let’s remember to breathe deeply and eat well and often and roll those shoulders back and down. πŸ’†πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

2.) Milk removal- when baby latches he/she is removing milk and feeding herself in one step. Here we will break it down into two steps. In the first couple of days you will have colostrum, which is more easily removed with your hands. Get started, and attempt to be consistent. You can use a pump if you prefer. βœ‹πŸ½

3.) feed that baby! Anything you collect counts- I do mean *anything! Offer what you collect, which will be small amounts at first, AS IT SHOULD BE! If there are concerns baby isn’t getting enough, consider donor milk if it’s available to you, or formula and start with small amounts. πŸ₯„

4.) call for help! In the hospital nurses and lactation consultants are often available, and if not, reach out to a local specialist who may be able to come out to your home or offer a clinic appointment soon after discharge. ☎️

How to hand express?
Is my baby getting enough?
How much donor milk/formula is too much?
Need an appointment?

I’m right here and I’m ready for you! πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ€²πŸ½

The thing is, you guys also teach me something new with each session! It’s give and receive on both ends.

What a gift it is to work with each of you. πŸ™πŸ½βœ¨πŸ«ΆπŸ½
