💉72 units sounds like a lot... until you see what his muscles were still doing at 2 weeks.
This patient was originally treated with 72 units of Botox across the forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
At his 2-week follow-up, there was still significant muscle activity-so we reassessed and added additional units where indicated.
👉 Proper dosing matters. Everyone’s dose is different, especially when treating strong, overactive muscles.
And this doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll always require the same dose.
With consistent treatment, repeated reduction in muscle activity can lead to muscle thinning/atrophy over time, which may change his dosing needs at future visits.
Not everyone needs a 2-week follow-up. But for new patients or those returning after several months or years, reassessment can be key to establishing the right individualized dose.
The number of units isn’t the goal. Properly treating the muscle is.
