🌴 Monolaurin (glycerol monolaurate or GML) is from lauric acid, which is naturally found in breast milk and coconut oil!

🦠 Several studies since the 1970s show monolaurin’s antimicrobial benefits, one of the latest being “Glycerol Monolaurate Contributes to the Antimicrobial and Anti-inflammatory Activity of Human Milk” in the October 2019 issue of the journal Scientific Reports.

🥥 Previous studies have shown that the addition of medium chain triglycerides or virgin coconut oil (which has the highest concentration of MCTs) can help increase weight gain for very low birth weight (LBW) infants. Recently, a few studies are showing the same effect with oil applied topically on the skin.

“A Randomised Comparative Study of Coconut Oil Massage for Effect on Weight Change in Low Birth Weight Neonates” in the September 2021 issue of the International Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics concludes: “The present study supports significant increase in weight gain in LBW preterm and term neonates with coconut oil massage.”

🤲 A 2019 study in the journal Neonatology (“Topical Coconut Oil Contributes to Systemic Monolaurin Levels in Very Preterm Infants”) shows that massaging premature babies with coconut oil can potentially help them fight more infections, too.

🤱 Other studies show coconut oil as an effective option for the management of ni**le soreness from breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is best for babies … and studies seem to show that giving babies a body massage with coconut oil can also help increase weight gain and enhance immunity in LBW preterm infants, while vco can help parents manage ni**le soreness effectively.

It’s national day on July 29! And we think of lipstick as an essential!

We’re working hard to get stocks of our lipsticks back more consistently. It’s hard work (there’s lots more that goes into a lipstick than you might think!) but lipsticks are definitely a priority (we think of them as skincare). Why?
