Taragano Theatre
Taragano Theatre Taragano Theatre was founded in 2012 by movement artist Mariana Taragano. Taragano Theatre is the working title of the group's creations.
The aim of the group is to collaborate in creations that merge different art forms, in the belief that by working together people can challenge one another. Their first production, Chrysalis, debuted in August 2012 as a part of the Camden Fringe Festival.

"We are debris arrangers. Equipped with what we have inherited, we try to make a life, make a living and make art. We are assemblers. We forge received parts into meaningful compositions. This state of affairs is our plight and our destiny, but it also offers the opportunity to find meaning as well as to find communion with others."

! In the last few years most of my creation work was created mainly to be performed by collaborators, which means that I investigated my ideas through other people’s bodies. Now, I feel the urge to join the physical investigations and I actually made it my 2019 new-year resolution. To keep me going I’d love to have you join me in this 2019 challenge. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A DANCER TO JOIN! You don't even have to be an artist!
In my work we often use improvisation to make the physical language but also as a means to get into the state of mind that I personally find most interesting when performing: it’s a state of mind which really requires that the artist is mindful and truly living in the moment. It requires one to be in an open, receptive but also responsive state of mind. This state of mind is also transferable to one’s everyday life and it makes living much more pleasant. Improv is also a great way to get your creative fluids going and an amazing way to connect to yourself. It’s a form of meditation. So how does it work? It's simple!
All you have to do is choose you're medium: your body, your instrument, your pen or your brush and spend some time using it without deciding what is it that you are going to do with it. However, “just” improvising, without some form of prompt is hard, vague and doesn’t usually get one great results, especially if this is not a practice you do A LOT in your life. So to help you (and me) out, once a week (on Mondays) for the whole of 2019 I will suggest a little exercise to get you started on Taragano Theatre’s Instagram page. Some are well-known improve techniques and others are my own creation. You don’t have to follow the prompt – it’s just there in case you get stuck. The idea is to try and improvise every day. But any amount of improvisation is welcome!
Make sure you follow on Instagram and if you share your improvisations on social media please use and tag us so we can see what you’re up to. I will also feature some of the improvisations on our page.
