Save & Share: Chemical peels are a form of chemical exfoliation and you must visit a skincare clinic or your favorite Esthetician to achieve the results you are seeking based on your skin concerns.

Chemical peels are ideal for:
πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Signs of aging - lines, wrinkles, age spots
πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Acne & acne scars
πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Discoloration - hyperpigmentation, sun spots, freckles

Chemical peels are much stronger than the chemical exfoliators that you can find at Sephora or Ulta so it is best to expect to go slow and steady to avoid any chances of adverse reactions. This is especially true for skins of color - unless you want to look bleached 😬.

Chemical peels cause sun sensitivity for weeks and months after so it's more important than ever to WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN! 🌞

While the cooler months are ideal for chemical peels due to the sun not being as strong, it also means that your skin will be extra dry and scratchy days (and possibly weeks) after a peel. Make sure to use the recommended moisturizer to reduce the discomfort. And whatever you do, DO NOT PEEL YOUR SKIN! It'll naturally fall off over time and reveal fresh skin.

& cleansers are currently in my daily rotation for my oily & acne prone skin.

If the texture shot isn't delectable enough, iS Clinical's Warming Honey Cleanser actually smells and looks like golden honey. Honey is rich in antioxidants, amino acids, and vitamins - all of which aids in improving blemish-prone skin. Papaya enzymes help in gently exfoliating the skin. And glycerin helps protect the skin's barrier and prevents the skin from drying out. I use this cleanser when my skin is at a good place with little to no breakouts.

The ZO Exfoliating Cleanser is a gel formulation that provides both physical and chemical exfoliation. It contains salicylic acid - a key ingredient in fighting acne - that clears the pores of acne-causing bacteria and has anti-inflammatory benefits. Jojoba esters and vitamin E beads provide gentle physical exfoliation along with antioxidant benefits.

Have you used these cleansers? Let me know!

πŸ’Ύ Save this post: 10 Steps to get you ready for your first facial!

Setting your expectations is key to experiencing a wonderful facial. Truth is, you won't walk away with your dream skin in one session because home care is really the name of the game.

Since you already took the first step in your skincare journey, getting to your goal is a matter of consistency, patience, and perseverance. Consistency requires you to follow a recommended treatment routine daily (usually twice a day). Patience is needed to see results over time - take photos of yourself every few days so you can compare the transformation. And perseverance is vital to not only push through the increased breakouts that are bound to happen but also for the good skin days when you think you can ease up on your daily rituals.

Chemical peels. Your first one can be scary from the uncertainty of what might happen. Or it can be overwhelming to figure out which option makes the most sense for you.

At Tintcare, I have a conservative approach to taking care of your delicate skin. It is important to first get to know your skin and to build up to the right peel for your skin type and what will get you the best results.

Depending on the type of peel, you can see results the same day with virtually no downtime. ❗Sunscreen is a MUST with ALL peels! 🌞 ❗The best way to create a plan for your specific needs is to schedule an appointment with me. 😎

πŸ’‘Schedule your medium to deep peels in the winter months when you are less likely to have longer sun exposure and an easier downtime. πŸ’‘

Is your skin feeling the effects of the weather getting colder?

In the northeast, we have already gotten our first ❄️snow❄️ of the season. This means that the air is dryer and our skins are craving some hydration and moisture.

πŸ’‘ *Tip: Lock-in your serum with Hyaluronic Acid by layering with a moisturizer. I love using Hydrating Creme which contains Collodial Oatmeal to calm and soothe dry skin.* πŸ’‘

πŸ’‘ Nighttime routines don't have to start right before heading to bed. Matter of fact, nighttime routines should start right when you get home from work - or for those of us working from home, right when work ends. πŸ’‘

My nighttime routine starts with most of my basics from my daytime routine. I start with cleansing my skin (step 1) and I skip the scrub because I have found it to be too much for my skin to handle in my nighttime steps. After toning (step 2) I start with the Eye Brightening Creme. Starting with my eyes ensures that I don't get some of the more potent serums and creams on the most sensitive part of my face. Next, I use the Daily Power Defense, Firming Serum, and Brightalive (steps 4, 5, & 7). I replace my daytime step with the Enzymatic Peel (step 6). The peel doesn't need to be washed off and provides both enzymatic and chemical exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. The final, and maybe my most favorite step (8) - Tretinoin Cream 😍. It helps treat acne vulgaris and is available by prescription only.

If you couldn't tell, I πŸ’œ dead skin cell turnover.

How many steps is your nighttime routine? Share below!

I can't tell you how often I reach for the Hydrating Creme by . Time and time again this has been my skin saver during colder months or any time I am in dryer climates. This has replaced my lip moisturizer and is one of my absolute favorite skin products. πŸ₯°

The product contains Collodial Oatmeal 🌾 to quickly soothe and calm itchiness, redness, and dryness. It has Ophiopogon Japonicus Root Extract to hydrate and restore the skin's barrier function - much needed in the winter months. It also contains peptide and antioxidants to fight free radicals and prevent premature aging.

πŸ’‘ *Tip: Carry a travel-sized, 2 fl. oz., version of the Hydrating Creme the next time you go on a flight ✈️. Or simply keep it handy in your handbag at all times. Apply anywhere your skin is dry, irritated, or needs a hydration boost.* πŸ’‘
