As we pivot back into society with a new found understanding that some of us will never understand completely, how can we continually show up for our black friends and neighbors, business owners and colleagues to show our alliance? Not just today, but each day. It requires our constant work to look at our own deeply rooted implicit biases to know how you can show up.

Happy Juneteenth!! I am so proud to offer a chair in this industry that celebrates your blackness always. Today may we celebrate your freedom-ish as we fight together for your future.

What I miss the most are most definitely your smiles. From the moment I landed in this crazy ass city, your smiles were my continued motivation.

Every day is a new day of emotions and one thing remains certain - I can’t wait for the day for my chair to be filled again.

Often times the wavy girls are the hardest to create shape. They don’t naturally live in space like my super curlies and always fear “they’re not curly enough to be curly”. LIES!!

They need the most help in a haircut to maximize their movement. Be careful not to overdo it though, they are the most prone to empty layers and dog ear ledges.

A client recently told me, “you have to make New York small for yourself.” And no one had ever said it to me that way (among other “must-have” NYC rules to get through this hellaciously magical city 🙄).

4 1/2 years here, and more days than not I feel like I’m home here. 😉 Yes, it takes time. Growth isn’t a linear path. .
Fortunately, I have you all as a constant motivator. I get to feel the ripple effect from each one of you in my chair.
