Prenatal Massage Center of Manhattan
Anne Heckheimer's exclusive upper westside location is a sanctuary for pregnant women looking to ease the tensions of their pregnancy.
Each session is specifically designed to address the symptoms of their pregnancy. Women leave their sessions relaxed, re Women leave their sessions relaxed, renewed and rejuvenated.
How a passion for maternal care turned into over two decades of specialized practice. 🕊️✨
Long before specialized maternal wellness was widely recognized in NYC, our founder Anne Heckheimer was already laying the groundwork.
Starting her career as a certified personal trainer and becoming a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist in 1998, Anne naturally gravitated toward working with pregnant clients. In the early days, prenatal bodywork was often reduced to simple weekend workshops, but Anne recognized that understanding the complex physiology of the pregnant body required far deeper study.
Shortly after 9/11, she launched her private practice, the Prenatal Massage & Movement Center, dedicated to giving expectant mothers in NYC the evidence-based care they deserved.

Puffy ankles, tight legs, and humid NYC heat? Postpartum edema is real, but you don't have to suffer through it. ☀️
When you give birth, your body undergoes massive fluid shifts. Combine that with summer humidity in New York City, and postpartum swelling can leave your legs, feet, and hands feeling heavy, tight, and uncomfortable.
The good news? You don't just have to "wait it out."
In our latest post, we cover:
🤍 Why postpartum fluid retention happens after birth
🤍 Gentle home remedies to encourage venous return
🤍 How Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) safely flushes stagnant fluid and eases swelling
Give your overworked recovery body the care it needs to bounce back smoothly this summer.

New York City is one of the most fast-paced, crowded places in the world. Yet, when you are home on maternity leave with a newborn, it can feel like the loneliest place on earth.
While the city moves at a million miles an hour right outside your window, you are navigating the quiet, exhausting, and deeply isolating landscape of the fourth trimester. The sudden shift from a busy career to the repetitive rhythm of feeding and soothing can leave you feeling completely disconnected from yourself.
We designed our offices across NYC to be the antidote to that isolation. This isn't just a place to get a massage; it is a warm, safe sanctuary where you are allowed to drop the brave face.
Come step out of the city rush, leave the diaper bag at the door, and let us take care of you for an hour in either one of our offices in the Upper East Side, Upper West Side and Financial District.
Enter your safe space and experience connection through touch with a Postpartum Massage. 🕊️

Here is how 60 minutes buys back your day.. ⏱️🤍
Between the endless doctor appointments, preparing for baby, or managing a newborn on zero sleep, finding a free hour feels completely impossible. It is the number one reason mothers delay booking a session.
But here is the truth: Operating on a depleted nervous system and a body wracked with physical pain actually drains your time. Pain makes you move slower, mental fatigue drains your productivity, and exhaustion makes every single task feel twice as heavy.
Spending 60 minutes on our table is not a delay in your day; it is an investment in your efficiency. By clearing the structural pain in your back, lowering your cortisol, and giving your brain a deep reset, you return to your life with more energy, clarity, and ease.
Rest is a requirement, not a reward. Link in bio to claim your hour back. ✨

What is Pelvic Zaps or "Lightning Crotch" during pregnancy, and how do you stop it? ⚡🤰
If you have ever felt a sudden, sharp, shooting pain deep in your pelvis that literally stops you mid-step, you have experienced "Lightning Crotch." It is an incredibly alarming symptom to experience, but it is actually a mechanical issue.
As your baby drops lower into the pelvis, or as your pelvis becomes misaligned, your baby's head can directly compress the nerve endings near your p***c bone.
We combine specialized prenatal bodywork with the balancing principles of Spinning Babies® and Body Ready Method® to help resolve the pain. Instead of just rubbing a sore muscle, we work to balance the ligaments and muscles supporting your pelvis. When your pelvis is symmetrical and beautifully aligned, pressure is taken off the nerves, and the sudden zaps disappear.

If you are suffering from chronic headaches during pregnancy and trying to avoid medications, your neck might actually be the primary culprit.
Between the bright summer sun making you squint, shifting hormones, and the postural changes of a growing belly, the tiny muscles at the base of your skull—your suboccipitals—become incredibly tight, compressed, and rigid. This restriction cuts off optimal blood flow and pulls on the fascia of your scalp, triggering painful tension headaches.
Our prenatal massage sessions focus heavily on this exact area. By gently unwinding the suboccipital tension and opening up the neck and shoulders, we melt away the root cause of the pressure.

Is it just a postpartum pouch, or is it Diastasis Recti? Let’s check. 🤍
Wondering why your core still feels weak, disconnected, or looks "coned" months after giving birth? If you are searching for how to fix a postpartum belly, you might be dealing with Diastasis Recti (the separation of your abdominal muscles).
But here is what standard fitness pages don't tell you: Rebuilding your core is about far more than just doing crunches (which can actually make the separation worse!). It is about your entire alignment.
Using techniques inspired by Maya Abdominal Therapy® and Body Ready Method®, we look at how your Diaphragm, ribs, pelvis, and breathing patterns work together. Through targeted movement protocols and structural alignment work, we help relieve the specific midline tension, encouraging your core muscles to knit back together naturally.

If you have ever felt unexpected tears well up on the table, we want you to know why this happens so you can let the tears flow without feeling uncomfortable.🤍
Your body stores emotional stress exactly where it stores physical tension—deep within your muscles and your fascia. Throughout the fertility journey, pregnancy, or the exhaustion of postpartum, you are carrying an immense emotional load.
When we use targeted, compassionate bodywork to finally unwind that deep structural tightness, the emotional weight often releases right along with it. It is a sign that your nervous system has finally dropped its guard, shifted out of survival mode, and feels completely safe.
If the tears come on our table, you never have to apologize or hold them back. Your body is holding a lot. It is safe to let it all go here.
