Roma's Barber Shop
On a quiet street in a forgotten part of town, there was an unassuming barbershop. Its windows always glowed with a soft light, and the sign on the glass read "Roma's Barber Shop." It seemed as though time had stopped in this place — an old wooden sign, vintage chairs, heavy-framed mirrors, and the scent of cologne mixed with the aroma of coffee. No one in the neighborhood knew how long the shop had been there, but everyone knew that something unusual happened inside.
Roma, the owner of the barbershop, was a mysterious man. No one knew his exact age, but his eyes seemed far too wise for any mortal. He wore a neat suit, a crisp white shirt, and a bow tie, as if he belonged to another era. Every day, when a new customer walked in, Roma smiled and invited them to sit in the chair.
At first glance, it was an ordinary barbershop. But visitors would leave as different people. Some claimed that after getting a haircut, their lives suddenly improved, others spoke of finding new love, or suddenly understanding complex problems that had troubled them for years.
One evening, a young man named Alex walked into the barbershop. He looked lost and exhausted, his eyes filled with worry. Roma, as always, smiled and invited him to sit.
"What brings you here, young man?" he asked gently, lathering up the shaving foam.
Alex sighed, looking down at his hands.
"I feel stuck. Nothing ever changes. Every attempt I make to fix things ends in failure," he said.
Roma nodded, as though he understood not just the words but the depth of despair behind them.
"Then perhaps we should change not what's on the outside, but what's on the inside," he said, beginning to cut.
Each movement of the scissors felt like a ritual. The room filled with a soft, barely audible melody, and Alex felt his thoughts begin to clear. The haircut took longer than usual, but Alex didn't notice the time. He felt something shifting, as though with every strand that fell, a weight was being lifted off his shoulders.
Suddenly, the lights flickered, and Roma's hand paused mid-air. Alex looked around, startled. The mirrors seemed to ripple as if they were made of water, and the reflection in them was not of the barbershop, but of another place entirely — a place filled with dark shadows and strange lights.
"What... what is that?" Alex stammered, his heart pounding.
Roma's expression darkened for a moment, and he whispered, "There are forces at work that few understand, Alex. Sometimes, when you touch the fabric of change, other things take notice."
Alex's breath caught in his throat. He could feel a strange presence, something lurking beyond the edges of the mirrors. A chill ran down his spine.
"Are we... safe?" Alex managed to ask, his voice barely audible.
Roma's gaze locked onto his, and the intensity in his eyes seemed to pierce through Alex's soul.
"Safe?" Roma smiled, but there was no warmth in it. "Safety is an illusion, my friend. But transformation — true transformation — always comes at a risk. Are you ready to face it?"
Alex swallowed hard but nodded. He had come this far, and something inside him knew there was no turning back now.
Roma resumed cutting, and the strange ripples in the mirrors slowly faded. The atmosphere in the room grew calm again, but Alex could still feel an undercurrent of energy, something powerful and ancient shifting beneath the surface.
When Roma finished, Alex looked at himself in the mirror and was stunned. It wasn't just his appearance that had changed — though he looked sharper, more confident — it was his eyes. There was a fire in them, a determination that hadn't been there before.
"The world around us is always changing," Roma said, putting down the scissors. "The important thing is that we are ready to change along with it."
Alex stood up, feeling an inexplicable sense of gratitude. He reached for his wallet to pay, but Roma only smiled and shook his head.
"Tonight's haircut is a gift," he said. "But remember, true change starts from within."
As Alex stepped out of the barbershop, he glanced back one last time. For a moment, it seemed as though the sign on the glass had vanished, and the shop itself had faded into the shadows. But then he saw the soft glow and Roma's silhouette, tidying up his tools.
From that day on, Alex knew that Roma's Barber Shop was not just a place for haircuts. It was a point where worlds intersected, where physical reality met the magic of transformation, and where every visitor was given a new chance at a better future.

Many years ago, in the bustling New York town,
I helped a barber update his website, taking it not down
To give it a new look, to make it more refined,
To help him showcase his skills and business, so inclined.
I created a page for him, as well,
To help him explore the world of online selling and tell
His story to a wider audience, with just a few clicks,
To help him reach more customers and fix
His place in the market, and increase his sales,
To make him more successful, to help him prevail.
I did it all for the sake of interest, to explore,
The possibilities of the internet and to restore
His faith in his business, and to show him the way,
To success and prosperity, to help him sway
The competition, and to stand out in the crowd,
To make his mark and to stand tall and proud.
Many years have passed since then, and I wonder still,
If the same barbershop is still running, with the same thrill,
If the same owner still greets his customers with a smile,
And if the page we created, is still up and worthwhile.
But one thing I know for sure, that my efforts weren't in vain,
For I helped a small business thrive, and I helped them gain
A foothold in the world of online advertising,
And for that, I am proud, and I am always reminiscing.
