In the autumn of 1975, Huang Zhou traveled to Hubei for sketching expeditions and lectures. During his stay in Wuhan, he departed from his signature Xinjiang themes to focus on the daily lives of people in southern China, adopting a serene and grounded style.
Painted that winter, the work exudes a tranquil atmosphere. The young woman in red atop the haystack serves as the focal point, contrasting with the foregroundโs blue-green reeds. Huangโs legendary mastery in depicting animals is fully realized: a donkey steps forward alongside an alert, upright horse. Utilizing expert ink variations, Huang precisely captured their musculature, imparting a lifelike vitality to the scene.

Fu Baoshiโs ๐๐ค๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต๐ข๐ช ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต๐ข๐ช๐ฏ represents the pinnacle of Fuโs highly coveted Sichuan period. Far from a conventional landscape, this ingenious โvisual reconstruction blueprintโ resulted from six years of meticulous textual research deciphering Gu Kaizhiโs convoluted Eastern Jin treatise. This academic breakthrough refuted contemporary Japanese scholarship, filling a critical void by pushing the origin of Chinese landscape painting back to the Han-Wei epochs.
While Fu technically retains archaic brushwork for the figures, he abandons traditional centered-tip lines for the mountains, experimenting with scattered-tip ink washes that mark the embryonic stage of his signature โBaoshi texture strokeโ (Baoshi cun).
Boasting impeccable provenance, this painting has been tucked away for decades as a prized family heirloom by Fuโs descendants. Adding immense historical documentary value, the handscroll features over a thousand words of colophons, the ultimate historical celebrity endorsements, by cultural giants like Xu Beihong and Shen Yinmo, whose critiques directly prompted this final revised version.

Imagine holding 5,000 years of spiritual authority in your hands.
This exquisite Liangzhu Culture Nine-Section Jade Cong represents the absolute pinnacle of ancient ritual craftsmanship. Following the sacred paradigm of a square exterior (representing Earth) and a circular interior (representing Heaven), its form narrows perfectly toward the base. The deep green jade is beautifully aged, displaying rich reddish-brown calcification and a stunning, time-honored patina.
Look closely at the nine sections. Each is meticulously carved with simplified divine masks. In ancient tradition, the number nine symbolizes the supreme heavenly realms, marking this rare ritual object as a true emblem of ultimate spiritual and political power.
This exceptional piece presents a rare and powerful testament to Liangzhu jade craftsmanship and its enduring spiritual authority.

This magnificent Green Ground Yangcai โFlowerโ and โBatโ Ruyi scepter was crafted for the Qianlong court and bears an iron-red six-character seal mark of the period.
It stands as a prime example of the grand, luxurious style of imperial ceramic art. The scepter features a highly complex โthree-inlayโ form executed with intricate cutout carvings, delicately enameled on the exterior with interlacing lotus scrolls and finished with gilt-brushed margins. The pierced reticulated panels vividly display colorful clouds and red bats holding โshouโ longevity characters.
The large porcelain scepters were notoriously difficult to fire and highly prone to warping or cracking in the kiln; flawless examples are incredibly scarce. Even comparable pieces held in the Palace Museum, Beijing, exhibit condition flaws or historical repairs. In contrast, this masterpiece has been remarkably preserved in pristine, immaculate condition, boasting a distinguished provenance from a prominent Shanghai banking family during the Republican period.

This exceptional stem cup underscores the strong global demand for museum-grade classical Chinese art. It stands as a significant achievement from the Xuande Emperorโs celebrated โGolden Decadeโ of imperial production (1426โ1435).
The piece owes its notable realized value to its impeccable provenance, academic rarity, and fine artistic ex*****on. Its 20th-century lineage includes several highly regarded collections, having passed through the hands of Sir Percival David, shipping magnate T.Y. Chao, and the Tianminlou Collection.
Painted in vibrant cobalt blue under a thick, โorange-peelโ glaze, the exterior depicts a motif of two four-clawed dragons surging through waves. Featuring a structurally sealed โsandy baseโ and a pristine six-character imperial reign mark, this piece is one of only four known identical examples globally.

In this painting 14.12.62, Zao Wou-Ki creates a powerful cosmic drama on canvas. Splitting the painting down the center, he channels the majestic spirit of traditional Chinese landscape paintings, unveiling a world at the dawn of creation.
From the bottom, a dark canyon of deep, calligraphic blacks erupts upward like a waking dragon, charged with the energy of wild cursive script. Above, the sky opens into a downpour of sulfurous yellow and brilliant amber, cascading down like liquid light. Where these two forces collide, Zao turns oil paint into a dance of explosive, dynamic interplay of surfaces, blending thick paint with thin, luminous washes to bring the spirit of traditional Chinese ink into the contemporary world.
