Celebrity hairstylist Taka Tokuyama made his way from Japan to New York City in 2004, beginning his career at the Warren-Tricomi Salon soon after and Patrick Melville Salon in 2011. Taka has been able to perfect his craft, creating a classic, chic and sexy style. Using his unique abilities, he has been able to successfully attract and satisfy a diverse clientele. Combining his structured Japanese background and New York City edge, Taka more than meets the demands of the everyday woman, the sophisticated Manhattan elite, and a number of celebrities with household names. Throughout his career, Taka has not only worked as a successful stylist in one of Manhattan most prestigious salons, but as an editorial stylist as well. He works with some of the best in the business and volunteers. Taka has graced the locks of celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan, Petra Nemcova, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Jessica Szohr, and Edison Chen, among others. Editorial work is like second nature to Taka. He has worked with magazines such as Harpers Bazaar, Nylon, etc. He has also done the hair for a number of fashion shows in New York. Taka’s specialties have no limitations. Taka has honed his craft in part by training other Japanese-American stylist in his method. His dream is to build a bridge for other Japanese to follow his path. He has worked with several loyal assistants whom he helped get started with their dream of becoming a New York City stylist. This is a part of his work of which he is very proud. Tokuyama Salon supports various organizations such as relief funds for the Haiti earthquake with its "Tokuyama Cultural Activities Organization" and also supports artists who come from Japan to study abroad.
