Hey girl, hey 🤍
If you’re new here, I’m Brittany.
I do natural hair and curls, but honestly… I spend a lot of time helping women figure out why their hair isn’t doing what they want it to do.
Like you ever have a wash day that comes out really good…
and then the next one you’re like ?? what happened?
Yeah… that’s not random.
Most of the time it’s just your routine not being consistent or clear.
And that’s the part I help with.
When you sit in my chair, we’re not just doing your hair and sending you on your way.
We’re figuring out what actually works for you so you can keep it up at home without it feeling like a whole job.
Nothing complicated.
Nothing overwhelming.
Just healthy hair, real results, and something you can stick to.
If your hair has been stressing you out a little… you’re in the right place.

i’m actually really proud of her
she tried to detangle and get herself ready for school between appointments…and that matters
but this is what it turned into
and this is the part we don’t talk about enough…
just because our kids want to do their own hair
doesn’t mean they’re ready yet
without understanding, they’re guessing
and guessing on textured hair usually turns into pulling, ripping, and breakage
if managing your child’s hair still feels overwhelming to you
it’s going to feel like too much for them
so they use force instead of technique
and that’s where the damage starts
this isn’t about blame
it’s about timing and education
confidence comes from being taught
not just being told to do it on your own
and this is exactly why i focus so much on teaching my clients how to care for their hair at home
save this if you’re raising a curly girl
or send it to a mom who needs to see it

Protective styles aren’t just about putting your hair away.
They should reduce stress… not create it.
If your style is:
– too tight
– too heavy
– causing buildup
– or making your scalp uncomfortable
…it’s not protective.
A good protective style supports your hair and your scalp at the same time.
That means:
clean parts, balanced tension, and a scalp that can still breathe.
Stop normalizing discomfort in the name of “longevity.”
Your hair should be able to thrive in the style… not just survive until take down.
If your wash n go is frizzy, sometimes it’s not your hair… it’s your process.
What you’re seeing here isn’t just “wet vs dry.”
This is proper saturation + correct product layering.
Here’s exactly what to do on your next wash day:
1. Soak your hair completely
Not damp. Not misted. Fully saturated. Water should be dripping.
2. Apply your leave-in on soaking wet hair
If your hands aren’t gliding through easily, you need more water.
3. Layer your styler immediately after
Don’t wait. Don’t let it start drying. Apply while the hair is still wet.
4. Use more product than you think
Most people under-apply and then blame their hair for frizz.
5. Leave it alone while it dries. A hooded dryer is best.
Touching it = frizz. Let the cast form and break it after it’s fully dry.
This is the difference between guessing… and actually understanding your hair.
Try this and tell me if your results don’t change.
You’re not bad at doing your hair…
you’ve just never been taught the right way.
Most people are using shampoo wrong and don’t even realize it.
That’s why your wash day feels off
and your styles don’t last the way they should.
Inside Curl Confidence, I break this all down so your routine actually makes sense.
Comment CONFIDENCE and I’ll send you the details.
Avoiding heat completely isn’t always the solution.
I see a lot of people struggle with tangling, knotty ends, and frustration during styling… not because their hair is the problem, but because of how it’s being handled.
Working on stretched hair can make it easier to see what’s going on, reduce tangling, and give you more control when you’re styling.
A lot of breakage doesn’t come from heat.
It comes from rushing, over-manipulating, and trying to force your hair to do something it’s not ready for.
The goal isn’t to avoid tools.
It’s to use them properly.
Do you prefer working on your hair wet or stretched?
Comment “STYLE” and I’ll send you something to help you figure out what your hair actually needs.
Not all damage comes from heat.
A lot of the time, it’s coming from everyday habits you don’t think twice about.
Over-manipulation.
Too much tension.
And over-moisturizing.
Constantly restyling your hair, pulling it back into tight styles, or re-wetting it every day can all weaken your curls over time.
So even if you’re not using heat, your hair can still become compromised.
And the tricky part is… most people respond by doing more.
More product.
More styling.
More moisture.
But at that point, it’s not about doing more. It’s about creating balance.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your hair is reduce the stress you’re putting on it.
Which one do you think is affecting your hair the most?
If you’re not sure what your hair needs, comment STYLE and I’ll send you something to help you figure it out.
Maintenance styles aren’t low effort.
They require consistency, hydration, and hair that’s already in a healthy state.
A lot of people want to jump straight into wearing their curls, but if your hair isn’t in a condition to be maintained daily, it won’t respond the way you expect it to.
This is where frustration usually comes in.
There’s a process:
Recovery → Protection → Maintenance
Skipping steps is what keeps people stuck.
If you’re not sure what stage your hair is in, comment ‘STYLE’ and I’ll help you figure it out.
Not everything labeled a “protective style” is actually protecting your hair.
I see it all the time behind the chair.
Styles with too much tension, left in too long, or layered with extensions on top of already stressed hair.
And then the hair isn’t responding the way you want it to.
Protective styles should reduce stress on your hair, not add to it.
The goal isn’t just to put your hair away. It’s to support it.
If you’re not sure which style your hair actually needs, comment STYLE and I’ll send you something to help you figure it out.
Her curls didn’t disappear. They were compromised.
Years of blowouts had changed how the ends of her curl pattern responded. When curls are tight at the root but start relaxing toward the ends, it can be a sign of heat compromise.
Instead of forcing a wash and go, we moved into a recovery style while those compromised ends grow out and get trimmed away.
Sometimes healthy curls require a recovery phase before they can perform the way you want.
Have you noticed your curls are tighter at the root but looser at the ends?
Most people choose hairstyles based on comfort or habit.
But behind the chair, I think about styles a little differently. Every hairstyle serves a purpose.
Some styles help maintain the everyday health of your hair.
Some protect it from excessive manipulation.
Some are simply for versatility with added hair.
And sometimes the hair needs a recovery period.
Understanding the difference can completely change the way your hair responds over time.
