**Your body is always giving you clues. 🌿**
Sometimes it's the way you feel after eating certain foods.
Sometimes it's unexplained fatigue, digestive changes, or a change in how you feel day to day.
And sometimes, especially with older loved ones, a small change in behavior can be worth paying attention to.
The important thing is not to ignore the clues—or immediately assume they're “just normal.”
**Get curious. Ask questions. Test when appropriate.**
Food, nutrition, genetics, hormones, brain function, and gut health can all be pieces of a much bigger picture.
And remember: your health choices don't only affect you. Your children are watching and learning from the habits they see every day.
You don't have to be perfect. ❤️
Start with one small choice.
Drink more water. Add some nourishing foods. Pay attention to patterns. Ask questions when something doesn't feel right.
**Small choices can become big changes over time.**

What if the food choices you make today could influence more than just your health? 🐱🌱
There’s a fascinating story called **Pottenger’s Cats** that I often think about when talking with families about nutrition.
The experiment involved generations of cats and different diets. The observations raised an interesting question about what can happen when nutritional patterns continue from one generation to the next.
And that's what really caught my attention.
We often say things like:
**“My dad ate this way, so I grew up eating this way too.”**
Maybe it's soda at every meal.
Maybe it's a diet heavy in refined carbohydrates.
Maybe it's the foods we automatically reach for because that's simply what our family has always eaten.
And there's nothing wrong with enjoying a cookie, having s'mores while camping, or celebrating with your favorite foods. ❤️
The bigger question is:
**What are we teaching the next generation about food and health?**
Because our children are watching.
They don't just hear what we say about healthy choices.
They watch what we do.
That's something I was thinking about while camping with my own kids. We've enjoyed the fun camping foods and s'mores, but I also try to find simple ways to bring in greens, plant-based protein, and other nourishing options when I can.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing.
**Small choices matter.**
You can make a healthier choice at home.
At a wedding.
On vacation.
Or even in the middle of nowhere while trying to escape the mosquitoes! 😂🦟
The goal isn't perfection.
It's creating a different pattern—one small choice at a time.
And if you're wondering how your nutrition, genetics, or individual biology may be connected to your health, that's a conversation I'm always happy to have.

Here's to making choices today that help us—and the generations watching us—build a healthier tomorrow. 🌱❤️

Sometimes, an infection in an older adult doesn't look like an infection. 💛
I was testing Papa for a possible urinary tract infection because I noticed some changes that made me wonder if something might be going on.
One thing I always remind families is that, in older adults, an infection may sometimes show up differently than we expect.
Instead of the classic symptoms, you might notice **confusion, forgetfulness, or a change in personality or behavior.**
And if someone has had UTIs before, it's worth paying attention to changes that seem unusual for them.
So we decided to check.
The test tubes were ready, and with a urine sample, we can look at things such as **blood, glucose, and protein**, along with using urine testing to help assess for a possible UTI.
Well...
I lost the bet. 😂
Papa doesn't have a UTI after all.
He has simply been working really hard. ❤️
But we did discover something important:
**He was dehydrated.**
One simple reminder I share often is to pay attention to the color of your urine. Generally, urine that is pale or light straw-colored is a good sign that you're getting enough fluids, while darker urine can be a reminder to drink more water.
Your kidneys work incredibly hard to filter and manage waste, but they still need enough water to do their job.
So if you're reading this right now...
💧 **Go get yourself a glass of water.**
And if you care for an older parent, grandparent, or loved one, pay attention to changes that may seem small.
Sometimes a little change in behavior is worth asking a few more questions about.
And sometimes, as we discovered with Papa, the answer is simply:
**“He needs to slow down, drink some water, and stop working so hard.”** 😂❤️

What if a young person could see themselves as the hero of their own story? 💛
I was chatting with my 14-year-old recently about a youth su***de prevention program we're building through our nonprofit.
As we talked about what young people really need, I realized something important:
Prevention isn't only about what we do when someone is already in crisis.
It's also about helping young people build a life they can feel connected to.
A life with **purpose.**
A sense of **connection.**
People who believe in them.
Mentors who listen.
Coaches who help them discover what they're capable of.
Opportunities to experience something bigger than the world they may be seeing in this particular moment.
Our program is being designed to bring together neurofeedback, nutritional testing and support, hormone balance, genetics, and, when appropriate, medication management.
But that's only part of the picture.
We're also creating opportunities for mentorship, coaching, optional trauma-informed therapy, travel, meaningful experiences, and connections with people who can help young people see possibilities beyond their current circumstances.
Because sometimes, when someone is in a very dark place, it can be difficult to imagine that their story could ever look different.
But life can surprise us.
There are chapters we haven't reached yet.
People we haven't met.
Places we haven't seen.
Dreams we haven't discovered.
**You are not only the person living through today's chapter.**
You are also the person who gets to help write what comes next.
So here's something I want every young person—and every parent, mentor, teacher, and caring adult—to remember:
**You are the hero of your own story.**
And if today's chapter is difficult, you don't have to write the next chapter alone.
If you have questions about youth mental wellness, our prevention work, or how we can support a young person who may be struggling, **please comment below or send me a DM.** I'm always happy to have the conversation.
💛 Sometimes one connection can remind someone that their story is worth continuing.

“But I’m not allergic to that food…” That’s an important distinction.
When most people think about a food allergy, they think about an obvious reaction—hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, or other immediate symptoms.
But sometimes your body's response to a food may be much less obvious.
You might notice that after eating certain foods you feel unusually tired.
Maybe your digestion changes.
Maybe you become constipated.
Maybe you notice a change in how you feel afterward that you can't quite explain.
And sometimes, the food you suspect isn't the food you expected.
It could even be something you consider “healthy.”
The important question isn't simply:
**“Is this food healthy?”**
It can also be:
**“How does MY body respond to this food?”**
That's why looking at individual food responses can be an important piece of the puzzle.
My goal isn't to tell you that you can never eat your favorite foods again. It's about gathering information, understanding your body's response, supporting your gut when needed, and determining what may be appropriate for you moving forward.
If you've been wondering whether a particular food could be contributing to how you feel, **comment “FOOD MYSTERY” below** or send me a DM.
I'd be happy to help answer your questions and point you toward the right next step.
