'And they spoke to him, saying, “If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”'

I Kings 12:7

Travis here: Yesterday I received a Word from the Lord on Leadership, I guess I should better call it "servant leadership"...
The passage of scripture occurs, when Rehoboam King Solomon's son came into leadership after the passing of his father. I guess somewhat unsure of how he would govern the people, he asked his elders how she respond to the people. The verse mentioned was their counsel to him concerning the matter.

The Word of the Lord is clear on "how" you should lead. My takeaway is this, if you will become the "Chief Servant" of the people you lead, it'll be easier for your people to serve you and your vision!
Leadership isn't about "you" being served, or you having finally "arrived"... stay humble and beat your people to the punch when it comes to serving! Too often when see leaders, sitting during worship, not carrying your own bible to the pulpit, but having someone else do it. Folks opening your door, so that you can make your appearance at the meeting. Casting your Vision, and never encouraging those who follow you to cast theirs also.

Leaders: Let if you'll sow Servanthood, you'll reap it.
