So many of us grew up feeling out of place, different and misunderstood. Knowing we’re “not like them.” Feeling unseen and alone even in the densest crowds. Scared, wondering “what’s wrong with me?”. Deeply sad… fearing the worst… that no one will ever truly love us because we are never truly being ourselves. Do we even know who we are? Instinctively, for survival, we learned to assimilate through observation of our surroundings. Recognizing when and where we’re safe to display certain elements of ourselves or when we need to adapt a new one all together. Effectively creating a mask. The face we show the world. Underneath, however, though we may not have fully understood, we had color, depth of character, complex thoughts and whimsy! I am so grateful to be in my Unmasking Era! Peeling off the layers of societal wallpaper to reveal the masterpiece at heart! We are not alone, we are finding each other and loving ourselves more and more along the way!
