La Presa in Airway Heights is excited and grateful to be selected by The Inlander as the Best Mexican Restaurant in Spokane. 🏆

Owner and chef Clint Hernandez will tell you the key to La Presa’s success is consistency, a tradition of hard work, recipes, and community involvement that started 18 years ago when his parents opened the restaurant.

“We’re still doing the same things that we’ve always done,” said Clint. “’It’s kind of like a never-ending hunger. Every day you have to come with the same mentality, the same determination. The day I feel complacent is the day I won’t put what I need to into the details that our customers count on.”

Not only did La Presa win the Inlander’s Best Mexican Food category, but it also took third for Best Margarita. It’s an honor that Clint shares with his staff and family, who’ve helped make all the difference. Clint started working in the family restaurant when he was eight years old. Twenty-six years later, he’s still driven by the same passion that pulled him in as a child.

“I joke that I’ve aged in dog years from all the stress and hard work,” Clint joked. “There are so many things that go on in the daily life of a small business owner. But we’ve been doing this for a long time, and we’re honored to get this recognition and to share it with my family and our customers.”

After all, at the end of the day, Clint, like his parents before him, does this for his family, his community, and his customers.
