My favorite summer activity... paddle boarding not only burns calories but also helps increase body awareness and core, upper and lower body strength. Add to that doing squats, lunges, push ups, dips, planks, stretching etc... on the board and you've got yourself a well-rounded workout! And it's fun!

I love this article! I'm BIG on getting my clients' glutes activated before a workout. The Glutes can be under active in many exercises which puts you at a higher risk for injury. Always workout out smarter before harder!

Please don't read this as a political post (I try not to get involved in political nonsense), but rather as a post about an uneducated and grossly out-of-shape individual making claims about exercise that are just untrue. There have been MANY (almost too many) studies done proving the benefits of regular exercise. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should merely pick up any newspaper, magazine or read any of the proven studies that exercise does in fact increase energy, help prevent injuries (though it IS possible to injure yourself while exercising INCORRECTLY) and can in fact help you live longer. Trump (just like everyone else) is entitled to his opinion. However, as the leader of this country and a (role model to some... though not me), he should be advocating for healthy living which includes daily exercise. Shaking my head...

Today's workout: it's a picture perfect day in Boston today (though still a bit too cold for my
Liking 😬) so I didn't want to be inside a gym today. Also, my legs are really sore from running the stairs yesterday! 😩 Sooooo... I took my new (to me) bicycle 🚴🏻 (given to me by one of my fabulous clients!!) for a spin! Rode from newton to Brighton center, into Cambridge and then followed the Charles River back through Brighton, into Watertown then home to newton! Took an hour and a half round trip. A few hills and some off-roading gave me a chance to really get my heart rate up! Anyway, enough about me! If you're finding it difficult to motivate and/or find time for your workouts or you just need some fresh ideas, LET ME HELP YOU! Contact me for more details! After a scheduled day off yesterday (because of a 13 hour work day), today's workout is running the stairs at Harvard Stadium! One of my faves this time of year! One of the most important keys to getting/staying in shape is PLANNING! Know your schedule at the beginning of the week and plan your workouts accordingly! I knew yesterday was going to be too busy with clients to fit in my own workout so made it my rest day this week!

Thank you to my amazing massage therapist for posting this helpful article. I use many of these stretches and exercises with my clients who sit all day and/or complain of low back pain. Always use caution and listen to your body when doing any type of stretch or exercise.
