Tuesday Tip DO NOT SKIP and don't mind my face 😛❤️😛 I'm tired, I'm a busy mom, no make up weekends!!
If you’ve ever had a gel manicure lift, peel, or pop off entirely just a few days after doing them, it could be because of something missed before every getting your colored picked out!
Nail prep is everything. Skipping steps like buffing and cleansing would be similar to painting over a dusty spider webbed, oily wall. Paint doesn't stick as well to all that and neither does your gel.
Here is exactly why these two quick steps can help your manicure tremendously.
1. Buffing: getting a good "Grip"
Nails are naturally oily and shiny. Gel polish needs a microscopic texture to hold onto.
When you gently buff the surface of your nail with a high-grit buffer (usually around 180 to 240 grit), remember we are not sand blasting our nail surface, you remove the natural shine and creating small invisible ridges. This process gives the gel something to lock into.
PS - Do Not over-buff. That weakens the nail bed.
2. Cleansing: will remove oils and any dust created from buffing.
Even after buffing your nails still have oil on them. Your nails naturally produce oil, and we all have some sort of residue from soaps, lotions, or everyday touch. Gel polish hates oil and moisture.
Wipe your nail with a cleanser pad from cuticle to free edge ans let dry completely .
PS Do not touch your face, nails or hair after these two steps. You just got rid of all the oil with the two steps above!
Now you are ready to paint!!
Do you do both of these steps??

Common Nail Problem & How to address them!
Brittle Nails: Did you know there are 2 types of brittle nails. Wet brittle and dry brittle. Wet brittle is caused when nails are in water too often and dry are when they are not getting enough moisture. The prevention for both I'm sure is obvious. Keep your hands out of water as much as possible, use gloves and dry well as soon as possible. Using out cuticle oil to moisture the dry ones. We are doing once a day but for those nails who really need it I recommend 2-4 times a day.
Nail Ridges: Nail ridges are vertical or horizontal lines that can develop on your nails. They can be caused by aging, poor nutrition, or an injury to the nail. To address this issue, ensure that you maintain a healthy diet that includes all the necessary vitamins and minerals, avoid harsh chemicals, and moisturize your nails regularly. While working to help from the inside and if it's not able to be corrected from the inside out; we have an amazing tool "Sensi File" that can remove them quickly without damaging the nail plate (ask your rep for more info).
Fungal Infection: Fungal nail infections can cause thick, discolored, and brittle nails. They can be caused by exposure to damp environments, poor nail hygiene, or a weakened immune system. To address this issue, keep your nails clean and dry, wear protective footwear in public places, and clean your tools! Even if you are the only user it is important to keep them clean to prevent bacteria from growing.
Ingrown nails: Ingrown nails occur when the nail grows into the skin, causing pain, swelling, and redness. They can be caused by improperly cutting your nails, wearing tight shoes, or an injury to the toe. To address this issue, soak your feet in warm water for 15-20 minutes, gently push back the skin surrounding the nail, and trim your nails straight across. If the problem persists, see a doctor who can provide further treatment.

If you are a fan of the original Flake Off formula you may notice sometimes it can get gummy and dry out? 🤨
This is likely why… Both Flake Off formulas will continue to work on any nail dust or pieces of polish that get back into the bottle. Be sure to clean your nails after buffing, and make sure there is no polish on the Flake Off brush when putting it back in the bottle to avoid this! ✔️
💡Also keep in mind Flake Off air dries… keep the lid on as much as possible when using.
