☀️ Skin Cancer Awareness Month ☀️

As an esthetician and skincare advocate, I spend every day educating others on the importance of protecting their skin. But this month feels especially personal for me.

Recently, I noticed a spot on my shoulder that didn’t seem quite right. After having it checked, I received a skin cancer diagnosis and underwent a procedure that resulted in 16 stitches to remove it completely.

It was a reminder that skin damage from years ago can show up decades later.

Growing up, so many of us spent hours outside with little to no sun protection. I can still picture myself in high school loading on baby oil, sitting on the roof with my Aerosmith album playing and aluminum foil reflecting the sun onto my skin, thinking a deeper tan was the goal. Back then, we simply didn’t know what we know now.

Today, I’m grateful to have caught it early, and even more passionate about sharing this message:
