Well… today I have officially owned Image Makers Salon for 20 YEARS. 🎉✂️
TWENTY. YEARS.
I bought this place when I was 24 years old, which is honestly hilarious in hindsight because at 24 I was basically a child with a cosmetology license, a set of keys, a little confidence, and absolutely NO CLUE what I had just signed myself up for. 😂
Apparently they’ll just let anybody buy a business.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve learned how to own a salon, manage people, manage money, manage clients, manage crises… and occasionally manage not to fake my own death and move to Mexico.
During my time behind these doors, I’ve…
❤️ Grown up — mostly
💍 Gotten married
👶 Had a baby
🙏 Found my way back to Jesus — probably because owning a salon will make a praying woman out of you
🏥 Survived a life-threatening health crisis, major surgery, and a week in the hospital
🚗 Been through a bad car accident
😷 Owned a salon through a GLOBAL PANDEMIC — ⭐ 0/10, would not recommend
💔 Lost a dear friend and coworker
💸 Had people steal from me — because apparently my salon ownership package included crime
🤪 Dealt with some absolutely WILD clients — and if these walls could talk, I’d have to burn the building down just to destroy the evidence
💦 Survived a water main break because apparently regular business problems weren't challenging enough
🔥 Had a fire in the shopping center
🚪 Watched neighboring businesses come and go
🔨 Remodeled this place THREE TIMES — because apparently I enjoy spending money and living in construction dust
✂️ Cut, colored, highlighted, permed, corrected, chopped, toned, and occasionally performed full-blown HAIR MIRACLES on Lord only knows how many heads
❤️ And somehow collected some of the most wonderful, loyal clients a stylist could ever ask for.
There has been blood.
There has been sweat.
There have been tears.
There has also been bleach, developer, police, fire trucks, contractors, drama, and enough stories to keep me entertained in a nursing home someday.
Image Makers has been so much more than a business to me.
It has been the backdrop of my entire adult life.
I basically grew up here.
These walls have seen the good, the bad, the heartbreaking, the hilarious, the “ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!” and plenty of moments where I stared into the distance wondering why I didn't just get a normal job with a 401(k). 😂

And somehow, after everything this place and I have been through…
we’re both still standing. ❤️
Twenty years.
Thousands of clients.
Countless friendships.
Three remodels.
One pandemic.
Several natural and unnatural disasters.
Approximately 847 crazy stories.
At least 47 moments where I considered running away.
And enough memories to last me a lifetime.
So Happy 20th Anniversary to me and Image Makers Salon. 🥂✂️
24-year-old me had absolutely NO IDEA what she was getting herself into.
But 44-year-old me can look back and say…
Dang girl, we actually did it. ❤️ when they said I couldn't.

Twenty years ago, I took the incredible opportunity to become the owner of Image Makers Salon, carrying on a legacy that first began in 1972.

Today, it's my turn to begin searching for the next person to write the next chapter of that story.

Image Makers Salon is looking for its next owner.

This isn't simply a business for sale—it's an opportunity to become part of 54 years of history.

For more than five decades, Image Makers has earned the trust of generations of clients, built an outstanding reputation throughout our community, and become one of the longest-established salons on the Oregon Coast.

Located in one of North Bend's busiest shopping centers, the salon enjoys excellent visibility, abundant parking, constant daily traffic, and one of my favorite perks... beautiful mountain views right outside the windows.

For the past 20 years, it's been my privilege to care for this business and the incredible people who have walked through its doors. My greatest hope is to find someone who will love this salon, cherish its loyal clientele, and continue building on the legacy that has made Image Makers so special.

Before anyone panics... I'm NOT retiring! ❤️ and Jaryd is still here doing amazing hair along side me!

I'm simply beginning a new chapter. I'll continue doing hair and taking care of my amazing clients while I transition into a smaller salon suite, so nothing will change anytime soon.

🚨 Public Service Announcement from the Slightly Over-Caffeinated Crew at Image Makers Salon 🚨

First things first...

No. We didn't close.

No, we didn't all run away to a tropical island.

And no, we aren't hiding in the back every time the phone rings.

(Although... after the 47th call before lunch, the thought has crossed our minds.)

Here's the deal...

We're officially operating by appointment only.

Why?

Because we're ridiculously short-staffed.

At any given moment, our stylists are trying to:
✂️ Highlight someone's hair...
📞 Answer the phone...
💳 Check out another client...
🧴 Mix color...
💬 Carry on three conversations...
🧹 Sweep the floor.....all while pretending we're not surviving on caffeine and dry shampoo.

It's basically a circus... except everyone has scissors.

So if you've called us and nobody answered...

We promise we're not sitting around playing cards in the break room.

Odds are someone has both hands full of foils, another has color gloves on, someone's elbow is trying to answer the phone, and we're all silently hoping voicemail will save us.

We’re taking a much-needed break to rest, recharge, and spend time with our families (and maybe avoid thinking about hair for 48 whole hours 😅).

We kindly ask that clients please do not contact stylists personally during the holiday weekend. The best way to book appointments is through our online booking system, or you’re welcome to wait for us to return messages once we’re back in the salon Tuesday.

Because of that, cancelling an appointment is something we never take lightly.

However, we want to gently ask for your understanding when those rare moments happen due to illness.

As independent stylists, we do not receive paid time off. When we are out sick, we are not only missing time with you—we are also missing our income. It is never a decision made casually, and it’s often one we wrestle with before finally realizing we need to take care of our health.

We do our very best to show up for you consistently, reliably, and wholeheartedly. But just like anyone else, there are times when we simply can’t pour from an empty cup.

In those moments, what we need most is grace.

A little patience, a little kindness, and a little understanding go a long way. Your support means more to us than you may realize, especially when we’re already feeling the weight of having to reschedule.

We appreciate each and every one of you—not just as clients, but as people we genuinely care about. Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and being part of our salon family.
