This one was extra special. Our very own Juliet stepped on stage for her very first bodybuilding show, and getting to be part of the team that prepped her for that moment was SO much fun. 🤎

And bodybuilding glam is a whole different ballgame. 👏🏼 When your client still has two more spray tans coming after makeup, you can’t simply match the foundation to the skin sitting in front of you. You have to think ahead.

Knowing the color wheel, understanding undertones, and anticipating where her skin tone is going means every part of the glam — foundation, bronzer, contour, blush + highlight — has to be intentionally chosen with her final stage color in mind.

It’s not just about making it match right now. It’s about knowing where we’re going. 🎨✨

And I think we can officially say… Juliet was STAGE READY. 😮‍💨🔥

Makeup artists, we HAVE to do better. Calling yourself a “luxury artist” while cutting corners on sanitation is wild to me.

Applying a shared lip gloss or mascara wand directly to a client and putting it back in the tube? Using the same cream stick directly on multiple faces? Absolutely not.

Use disposable applicators, scoop cream products onto a clean palette, and use clean tools for every client. And PLEASE understand that a disposable wand is no longer clean once it touches someone’s face. No double dipping.

Clients, pay attention to what’s happening in that chair. You are allowed to ask how products and tools are kept sanitary, and you are allowed to speak up when something doesn’t look right. A beautiful portfolio and an expensive kit don’t automatically mean proper hygiene.

Sanitation isn’t an upgrade you pay extra for. It’s the bare minimum you should expect from anyone charging to touch your face. Period.

I put the products and prices on screen and the total came to $751.25 😳 And that’s only ONE shade of everything. Imagine carrying 8 shades so you can do everyone else’s makeup too!!!

This is why makeup artists charge what we do. Stocking a professional kit is expensive, keeping it stocked is expensive, and we still need to pay ourselves for our time and skill.

I love what I do, but loving it doesn’t pay for the next restock, XOXO 💋
