I think this 1K sewing situation shines a light on the fact that a lot of people stop booking hair appointments simply for the hair along time ago. They are paying for an experience and proximity. The same can be said for the stylist, it is less about the actual hair service and more about filming the experience and managing who has proximity to you by choosing a higher price point.

Also, the money grab here is not just the $1000 installs but the $5000 class that stylist will take in hopes that they too can charge $1000 for a sew in. India said that God put her in this position to change the way black women value themselves in the industry. Who’s going to argue that? When the students aren’t getting booked at 1k she can simply say it wasn’t gods will. This is not fraud or scamming, it’s simply capitalism with a religious undertone.

Sis, somebody else’s hair is not the standard your hair has to meet.

Her curls may be looser. Her hair may look thicker. Her wash day may take half the time. She may retain length faster, have less shrinkage, or be able to wear styles that simply don’t work for you.

I’m not asking you to “know anything about Hair“ I just need you to point to what you want to be cut, tell me in numerical terms how much you are willing to cut or show me a piece of media that shows me how you want the cut. Gah lee. 🙄

Everybody seems to be sure of what they want after the appointment is over but when you’re begging them before you start, it’s crickets.
