✨ MEET AMBER BUTLER ✨
A second-generation Master Teacher and Committee of Six Member, Amber Butler brings decades of experience, precision, and dedication to the preservation of the Pilates method.
From representing the U.S. as a synchronized swimmer at the French Open to opening Precision Pilates of Spokane in 2004 and graduating from Lo**ta San Miguel’s Master Mentor Program in 2009, Amber’s journey is deeply rooted in movement, education, and lineage.
At Lo**ta’s Legacy Symposium, Amber will present:
Scapular Stability: Where Precision Begins
A workshop exploring scapular organization, precision, awareness, refined cueing, and how thoughtful movement can create greater whole-body efficiency.

We are honored to welcome Katya Smirnova, a 2nd Generation Master Teacher and Committee of Six Member, as a presenter at Lo**ta’s Legacy Symposium in Miami, Florida.
Certified through Institute Pilates London, Katya studied with Lo**ta San Miguel and Mary Bowen and has dedicated her career to teaching, preserving, and inspiring the next generation of Pilates teachers.
As the founder of International Pilates University Fitness4You, Katya has trained teachers across six European countries and continues to honor the authenticity of Joseph Pilates’ work.

This is one of those moments I know I’ll carry with me for a very long time. 🩵
I feel so incredibly grateful that I get to still study with Lo**ta at 91 years old. There’s something very special to me about being able to sit in front of her, learn from her, and continue to experience her teaching.
Getting to demonstrate for her was especially meaningful to me. I was never a dancer, and I never imagined that I would one day find myself standing there demonstrating this work for Lo**ta.
In that moment, I couldn’t help but think about the last 25 years and everything I’ve put into Pilates. All of the years of studying, practicing, learning, and working to understand this method brought me to that exact moment.
It felt very personal. And honestly, very emotional.
I’m just deeply grateful that this is part of my story. Grateful that I found Pilates, grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to spend so many years learning this work, and especially grateful that after 25 years, I’m still a student and still have the opportunity to learn from Lo**ta.

There is so much more happening in these movements than simply moving from one exercise to the next. Lo**ta talks about bringing attention to the rhythm, precision, control, transitions, and intention behind the series, reminding us that every movement has a purpose and every detail matters.
Watching her teach is such a special opportunity to see the method through the eyes of someone who has dedicated so much of her life to preserving, practicing, and sharing the work. It’s these little details, the way she explains a movement, what she asks us to feel, and how she connects each exercise to the next, that make learning from Lo**ta so special.
And we’re so grateful to have Glaucia translating Lo**ta’s teaching into Portuguese and helping bring this knowledge to the Portuguese-speaking Pilates community. As one of the most renowned Pilates teachers in Brazil, Glaucia has made such a beautiful impact on the Pilates community there, and we’re so happy to have her as part of these moments. 🤍
And of course, Nichole is a beautiful and strong demonstrator, bringing the series to life with so much precision and control.

Saw on the Ped-o-Pull 🤍
The Ped-o-Pull adds another layer to the Saw, challenging you to find control through the rotation while maintaining connection through the center, spine, and arms. It’s a beautiful example of how the classical work can be explored through different pieces of apparatus while keeping the movement intentional and precise.
And this is exactly the kind of knowledge and history we’re so excited to share in Miami in 2027. ✨
