✨PIGMENT SELECTION✨

I often get asked how I select the right pigments to use, and it comes down to a few key factors:

✨️The color of your natural brow hair
Matching the pigment color to your natural brow hairs will always look the most natural! We do have some wiggle room in either direction to go a bit lighter or darker, but I generally aim to match the brow hair as best as possible. There are some exceptions to this - for example: very light blondes/redheads. It can be tough to find a pigment that blends with your natural hair. It can be done! But if you’re wanting your PMU (permanent makeup) to be darker than your natural brow hair, we will need to discuss some maintenance options. You could look into using a tinted brow gel daily, or dye the hairs every 4-6 weeks or so! This does require a bit more maintenance on your part and a commitment to do this long-term. Sometimes, that means PMU may not be for you, and that’s okay! Everyone is different.

✨️Your skin tone/undertone
Because pigment always cools down in color once it’s healed, we need to be sure to select a pigment with the appropriate amount of warmth. For example, someone with cool undertones will need a warmer pigment to offset the cooling down that happens during healing. Remember, what color it is at the time of service doesn't really matter; what color it heals to does!

✨️How you like your do your makeup
We can cater the saturation of your brows to be lighter and airy or darker and bold. It all comes down to your individual preference and style.

🫶🩷With all of that said, I always want my clients to know that I am extremely cautious the first appointment. I would much rather have them heal a little too light than healing too dark, especially for the first session. The reason being, we can always add more at your touchup! It is WAY easier to add than take away pigment, so although I do my very best to give you the best color match at the first session, the reality is everyone’s skin heals differently. So, to ensure you’re getting the most natural result, it is always beneficial to start a little more conservative with the color. During your touchup, we learn a lot about how your skin heals and fades pigment, so we can make educated adjustments at that time and go darker if that’s what you want

We went over the risks of working on skin with vitiligo and decided it was worth it.
