Where do I start… first of all, s/o led by Steve Loeswick and his coaching staff, athletic director and Kyra Contris, dietician, and dining staff. My daughter got to experience her first overnight sports camp last weekend and it was more than just the athletic training and learned skills that stood out to me.

After registering for the camp, I reached out to let them know of Mariah’s severe food allergies to inquire about the meals served at camp and this was the response:

“We have an allergen-friendly station at Hicks Dining Hall called True Balance. All food at this station is prepared without the top 9 allergens and gluten, and items are stored, prepared, and served separately to minimize the risk of cross-contact.
True Balance is not open during the summer; however, we are happy to prepare meals for Mariah at True Balance over the weekend so she has safe options available.”

I immediately felt a sense of relief sending her to camp, as she is very weary to eat anything new if I’m not with her. Kyra, thank you so much!!

To take it a step further, Steve contacted me on Saturday and said that he felt there needed to be more food options for Mariah and wanted to order her something else (from a restaurant that Mariah always eats at) so that she could have it after the next session. As busy as a head coach is at a camp such as this and he is following up and prioritizing her food allergies as I would is VERY stand out. I can’t say thank you enough..

To me this speaks volumes of Steve’s character, the women’s volleyball program, and the type of people that Coastal Carolina employs.
