The Yallternative Homestead

Roosters didn't even make it to freezer camp, they took a quick detour and caught a tan in my oven.

Revenge is best served hot, juicy and seasoned with homemade spruce tip salt and some Rudy's rub from my favorite bbq joint in Texas and butter.

Raised from chicks, fed and now feeding my family. The way God intended.

One of the VERY few times I will share my kid here- My son got to join my friend on her new show on National Geographic, they did such a beautiful job capturing and showcasing his sweet little soul. I cried my eyes out watching- we are so proud of how far he has come and so grateful for Kaycee for everything.

Check him out on Disney+ or Hulu- all episodes streaming now- his is episode #7

What a beautiful 38th Birthday it has been!!!

I have the best support system- they even encourage my bulls**t all the way from Maryland.

My sister sent me pics of these mushrooms asking me what the Grey ones were and I immediately geeked out in excitement. We already knew the chicken of the woods grow back year after year- and I found a hen of the woods in the exact spot my sister found these years ago but they were well past their prime then.

Just to be extra sure I reached out to the Appalachian Forager to be sure I positively id them(I am no mycologist by any means). God bless that woman- she instantly responded 🥰 A lot of what I know i learned watching her and pages like hers so thank you Whitney for your knowledge and kindness again.

My mom cleaned em up a bit and vaccum sealed and froze them for me and even sent me some pictures of her cute self!

I love you all thanks for making my birthday extra special!!!

Did you know? 🤯

You can see the difference in diet, age and even sometimes s*x of birds based off the colors of their livers alone. The hearts are an added bonus to see the difference in diet and age.

Everyone thinks it's gross until they're starving and their crazy cousin Kendra can make a divine soup to warm their bellies 🤣

Welcome to Alaska- Where the odds are good AND the goods are ODD 🤣

Sorry this weirdo is taken

Look at this FONKY chicken foot.
