🔥 PSOAS + ILIACUS WORK — FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE

Most therapists approach the psoas with the client lying on their back—but sidelying is one of my favorite and most underutilized positions for accessing the iliopsoas complex.

With the client positioned on their side, I can work the psoas and iliacus with better control and positioning, while allowing the client to remain relaxed. It also gives me the ability to incorporate hip movement and address surrounding restrictions rather than simply applying pressure from the front.

The psoas major and iliacus are powerful hip flexors that can influence hip mobility, pelvic mechanics and lumbar movement. When these tissues become overactive or restricted, they may contribute to altered movement patterns and discomfort through the hip and low back.

💥 Why I like the sidelying position:
• Excellent access to the iliacus and psoas region
• Allows controlled hip flexion and extension during treatment
• Makes it easier to work with movement instead of just static pressure
• Gives the therapist another angle to assess and treat hip restrictions
• Can be more comfortable for certain clients

Great manual therapy isn’t always about pushing harder—sometimes changing the position changes everything.

💪 TENNIS ELBOW DOESN’T JUST HAPPEN TO TENNIS PLAYERS!

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is an overuse injury involving the tendons on the outside of the elbow. Repetitive gripping and wrist movements can overload the area, leading to pain, tenderness, and decreased grip strength.

🎯 COMMON CAUSES:
• Repetitive gripping or lifting
• Weight training
• Racquet sports
• Construction and manual labor
• Repetitive computer/mouse use
• Poor mechanics during work or exercise
• Overuse of the wrist and forearm muscles

🥷 TODAY’S TREATMENT:
I’m using Graston Technique (IASTM) combined with myofascial release to address restrictions and tension throughout the forearm and surrounding soft tissue.

The goal is to:
✅ Improve tissue mobility
✅ Reduce muscular and fascial restrictions
✅ Improve range of motion
✅ Address contributing tension throughout the forearm
✅ Support the body’s recovery process

Sometimes where you feel the pain isn’t the only area that needs attention. Treating the surrounding soft tissue and addressing the mechanics contributing to the problem can be an important part of recovery.
