Last night, as I was lying in bed, it hit me — January 8th.
The same day I signed the lease on my very first salon space six years ago.

Six years, one location change, and countless polished fingers and toes later… here we are. ✨

Owning my own business has taught me more than I ever expected. There have been moments of doubt, but even more moments of pride — building something that truly reflects who I am.

Over the years, I’ve shared so many moments with my clients — laughter, happy milestones, and even the quieter, harder days. Connections that mean so much more than nail polish ever could.

This little sign was a gift from one of my clients. The kind of client I’ve seen for years—and I mean YEARS. Some of you have been with me through moves, milestones, heartbreaks, new beginnings, and probably hundreds of shades of polish.

This month marks 27 years of doing nails. I started at 18 and never looked back. It’s been salons, hard lessons, hilarious stories, and a whole lot of nail love.

Today, I’m in a space that finally feels exactly right.

✨ Lindsay by my side, bringing the magic on Thursdays
✨ And I’m dreaming about what it could look like to grow a little more. Searching for one more nail tech!

Today marks 5 years since I signed my first lease for Polished Hand & Sole!!

The plan was to do some quick renovation and open in late February early March 2020. Covid had other plans and I wasn’t able to open till June.

However, I still celebrate today as the first major step in going out on my own!

Business is still going strong 💪🏻 and my new location is absolute heaven!

Along with the pleasant move uptown, some other wonderful things have happened in those five years too…

🐕 We got our first dog! My baby girl Ella.

👦🏻 Both my boys are in high school now.

🚗 My oldest got his drivers license.

🖤 My little brother got married.

Of course there was more but those were the top ones 😁

I also met Jason Priestley. This was a huge moment in my life. Twelve year old me was a big 90210 fan.

Back in 2019 I (Sara) started to learn a new technique after failing horribly at dip nails.
I have seen some fantastic dip nails but gosh darn they weren’t coming from me.

So after some searching I discovered Genre. A technique created by a fellow nail tech many, many miles away.

I have been doing Genre ever since. And recently was able to have Lindsay sit with me and show her the Genre way.

She gave some shorties the Genre love and topped it off with a perfect french mani.
