*HAPPY PENTECOST SUNDAY*
*24TH MAY 2026*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
ACTS 2:1-4 NIV
““When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire ……….All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
Today is Pentecost Sunday also known as WhitSunday. It is celebrated exactly 50 days after Easter Sunday and marks the end of the Easter season. It is a major feast of the Church's year when Christians recall how God's Holy Spirit was given to the disciples after Jesus' Ascension, empowering them to begin the work of making disciples of all nations.

Historically, Pentecost coincides with the Jewish festival of *Shavuot* (Feast of Weeks), which celebrates the giving of the Torah (the Law) to Moses on Mount Sinai. In the Christian tradition, Pentecost is the day the Holy Spirit was poured out—symbolically writing God's law of love onto the hearts of believers rather than just on tablets of stone.

Before Our Lord Jesus’s crucifixion, He promised to send a "Paraclete"—an advocate, teacher, and comforter. Pentecost is the ultimate fulfillment of this promise, providing believers with constant inner guidance, spiritual gifts, and the strength to live out their faith.

At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit empowers the Apostles to speak in tongues, allowing people from all over the world to hear the gospel in their native languages. This miracle represents the restoration of unity, bridging cultural and linguistic divides.

As we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, let us open our hearts to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us, strengthen us, and embolden us to live as disciples of Christ. May we be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to bring God's love and mercy to a world in need.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
Father God, on this day, roughly 2000 years ago, You inaugurated the Church by having the Holy Spirit indwell in Your believers. Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, the comforter, the convictor, the guide, and the advocate. I thank You for the Holy Spirit dwelling in my heart and working in my life. You guided me into salvation, renewed my dead spirit, and opened my eyes to the Truth. Make me more sensitive to the Holy Spirit so I can follow You more closely. I need You to help me to be obedient to Your leading, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

*SUDDENLY THINGS SHIFT*

*TODAY'S SCRIPTURE*
2 KINGS 7:1 NLV
“The Lord says, ‘Tomorrow about this time, a basket of fine flour will be sold for one piece of silver in the gate of Samaria. And two baskets of barley will be sold for a piece of silver.’”

*TODAY'S WORD*
The Syrian army had surrounded the city of Samaria and cutoff the Israelites’ food and water supply. Just when it looked like the people would starve to death, the prophet Elisha spoke today’s Scripture with its promise of a sudden abundance of food and supplies. One of the main leaders replied what most of the people were thinking, “Elisha, that’s impossible. Even if God opened the windows of Heaven, that couldn’t happen.” But by way of a miraculous intervention, that is exactly what happened.

You may not see how your situation could ever change. How could God reverse the trouble in your marriage or your finances? It doesn’t look possible in the natural, but God is supernatural. He has ways of reversing what looks permanent that we’ve never thought of. One touch of God’s favour and suddenly things shift in your favour, in your finances, in your children, in your health, in your relationships. This is a new day. God is doing a new thing. Do not talk yourself out of your miracle. Be a believer and not a doubter.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, thank You that You are the God who can do the impossible and who loves to surprise me. Thank You that one touch of Your favour can turn around what looks like it will never change. I believe that this is a new day and You are going to do more than I can imagine, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

*FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
GALATIANS 5:22-23 NIV
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
The Fruit of the Spirit is a biblical term that sums up nine attributes a Christian should possess. I would say that each of these attributes is supernatural. It is impossible to bear the fruit of the Spirit in one’s own strength. Jesus said, 'With God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26). This is far more than the power of positive thinking. It is the power of God that makes what seems impossible possible.

The fruit of the Spirit is what God desires a Christian life to exhibit and, with God’s help, it is possible. Without God, there is no way that one can love the unloveable and have joy during turmoil. Peace, patience and kindness are impossible in one’s own strength. Goodness and faithfulness fall way short without God’s presence.

Have you ever tried to be gentle or self-controlled in your own strength? I am trying my hardest to stay positive with these, I know, I can do all things through Christ. I am getting better.

Who is one person around you who is growing in one or two attributes of the fruit of the Spirit? Make a plan to tell the person today how you see these attributes growing in him or her.

In what ways do you see the fruit of the Spirit growing in your own life?

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
Father God, thank You for Your patience, grace, and forgiveness. I want the Holy Spirit to lead me and empower me to grow in every way, but especially so that I can be more and more like Jesus in love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

*RESTORED*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
PSALM 23:3 KJV
“He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
When the psalmist wrote that God “restores my soul,” he used the word _nephesh_ for soul. _Nephesh_ includes your life, your emotions, and your mind. Even if you have experienced some degeneration in these areas, God can restore. And when God restores, His restoration is always great in quality!

For instance, if you or a loved one has a neurological condition such as recurrent migraines, meningitis, dementia, or are suffering the effects of a stroke, see your Saviour’s brain afflicted with the condition on the Cross as you partake of the Lord’s Supper.

Jesus, the Passover Lamb, took upon Himself any condition that affects any part of your body and wants you healed of it. I want you to meditate on how He bore these infirmities so you can have perfect freedom from them (Matt. 8:17).

Life has a way of gradually draining us. Between the heavy demands of work, family responsibilities, unexpected tragedies, and the silent weight of our own mistakes, it is easy to find ourselves running on empty.

God does not get angry when our inner being feels broken or depleted. He is the Good Shepherd, and His response to our fatigue is not a demand to work harder. Instead, He invites us to step away from the noise, lie down in green pastures, and let Him put our mind and heart back together. True restoration cannot be manufactured by human effort; it is a divine gift that happens when we surrender our burdens and find rest in His presence.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
Father God, thank You for Your endless grace and for being my faithful Shepherd. I come to You today recognizing that my soul is weary and my strength is small. I surrender my worries, my exhaustion, and my broken pieces into Your hands. Lord, restore my soul today. Renew my mind, heal my hidden hurts, and refresh my spirit with Your peace. Lead me beside Your still waters and guide my steps in paths of righteousness, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

*HIGHER THOUGHTS*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
ISAIAH 55:9, NIV
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
We live in a world where we love to map out our lives. We plan our careers, our finances, and how we want our problems solved. Yet, when life throws unexpected detours—a closed door, a delayed dream, or a sudden trial—it is easy to become confused and question why things are not going the way we envisioned.

When we ask God to help our loved ones or rescue us from a difficult season, we often outline exactly how He should do it. But God's higher ways mean that His methods prioritize our ultimate spiritual growth, His kingdom, and His eternal glory—which often look entirely different from our temporary desires.

Today’s Scripture serves as a gentle, humbling reality check. God does not think like us, nor does He operate on a human scale. The distance between our limited perspective and His infinite wisdom is as vast as the expanse between the earth and the edge of the universe.

Embracing that God's thoughts are higher than ours does not mean we stop praying or caring; rather, it allows us to release the heavy burden of having to figure it all out. We can confidently trust that the One who created the universe, our Father God, knows exactly what is best for us, even when we cannot see the road ahead.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, forgive me for the times I try to put You in a box and demand that You work according to my plans. I acknowledge that Your wisdom is infinitely higher than mine. When I do not understand what You are doing, give me the grace to trust Your heart and rest in Your sovereign care, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

*DRAW ME NEARER TO GOD*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
JAMES 4:8 NIV
“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
As you reflect on Today’s Scripture, there are a few ways to draw nearer to God. Seek His Presence in Prayer. Take 20-30 minutes of quiet, uninterrupted time daily to talk to God the way you would talk to a close friend. Meditate on the Scripture you have read. Align your mind with His will by focusing on His Word rather than the conflicting demands of the world and situation around you.

When you make that effort to seek God wholeheartedly, He promises to close the distance immediately and embrace you with His presence, peace, mercy and grace.

Today, some people live in the world according to worldly wisdom rather than heavenly wisdom. They only seek God when times get rough and tough. The Bible collects dust. The praise becomes an afterthought. But when in need of a favour, that Bible is quickly found. Those prayers are suddenly remembered. And still, God remains faithful. We fade away from Him, but He never fades away from us.

God owes us nothing. He could easily distance Himself from us just as we distance ourselves from Him. But, He does not. He is always there, ready, and willing. God is never late. He is always on time. No matter where we go or what we do, God does not turn His back on us like we do on Him. Our closeness to God is only determined by us, as He is always close to us. We alone create our further distance from Him.

Do not be a person that only talk to God when you need a favour. Daily talk to God. Daily praise Him. Daily love Him. Daily thank Him.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, thank You for Your unconditional love, Your grace, and Your constant availability. Forgive me for the times I have allowed busyness to keep me at a distance. Today, I come before You with a heart that desires to know You more intimately. Your Word promises that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. I choose to take that step towards You. Wash away my impurities and help me to lay down anything that creates a distance between us. Stir up a deep hunger in my soul to pursue You above all the distractions and temptations of this world. I choose to rest in Your peace, trusting that You are always near to guide, comfort, and strengthen me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

*HIGH PRAISE*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
PSALM 149:6 NKJV
“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,”

*TODAY’S WORD*
Praise is not just a polite response to good times; it is a spiritual battle position. When you choose to give God "high praise," you are making a deliberate decision to magnify His strength above your struggles.

The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. When you start your day with worship, you invite His tangible presence into your circumstances. It acts as an invisible protective garment for your mind, shielding you from negativity, worry, and defeat.

Genuine, heartfelt praise shifts your perspective. It reminds you that while your problems may look large, your Creator is infinitely larger.

Speak words of thanks as soon as you wake up, before even getting out of bed. Focus on His character and praise God for who He is, His faithfulness, love, and justice—not just what He can give you. Shout your Hallelujah and use the highest praise intentionally when you feel overwhelmed to shift the spiritual atmosphere around you.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, I lift Your name on high today. You alone are worthy of my highest praise and deepest adoration. Forgive me for the times I have allowed complaints to outvolume my gratitude. I choose to put on a garment of praise today, trusting that You are bigger than any obstacle in my path. Let my words and my thoughts bring glory to You all day long, in the na

*ASCENSION SUNDAY*
*17TH MAY 2026*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
LUKE 24:52 NKJV
“Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
Ascension Sunday marks Christ’s return to the right hand of the Father, completing His earthly ministry and empowering the Church. This devotional explores how this pivotal event is not merely a historical footnote, but the foundation of our present spiritual authority and eternal hope.

When Jesus told His disciples He was leaving, they were initially consumed by sorrow. Yet, after they witnessed Him ascend into heaven, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

The Ascension is the ultimate "Mission Accomplished!" moment. Jesus did not abandon His followers; rather, He returned to His throne of glory, taking His rightful place as King of kings. The Ascension translates us into a new reality. As believers, we are spiritually seated with Christ, far above the powers and confusion of this secular world.

However, Jesus’ departure also clears the way for the ultimate promise — the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to continue His work on earth. As we await His promised return, our focus shifts from earthly to heavenly purpose. We are commissioned to live lives of victory, knowing that our Lord Jesus reigns supremely and has prepared a place for us.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, today I celebrate the glorious Ascension into heaven of Your Son, Jesus Christ. As He sits at Your right hand, fill my heart with Your peace and joy. Grant me the courage and wisdom to carry on Your mission on earth, becoming Your hands and feet in my daily life. Send Your Holy Spirit to guide me as I preach the Good News, in the name of Jesus. Amen."

*PLACE YOUR LIFE IN GOD’S HANDS*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
PROVERBS 3:5-6 NLT
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
We all face things we do not understand, things that do not seem fair, but you have to know that God will not mismanage your life. He will not allow hardships and bad breaks that do not have any purpose. He does not just sit back and say, “I cannot believe that just happened to you. Too bad.” He is ordering your steps. Nothing happens without His permission. He has promised that all things will work together for our good. Sure, there are things we do not understand, things that do not make sense. But if you stay in faith, do not get bitter, and just keep doing the right thing, you will see it all come together in time.

Today’s Scripture says to simply trust God and do not try to figure out everything that happens along the way. If you try to figure out all the things that happen that do not make sense, you will get confused and discouraged. Put it in God’s hands. “God, I believe that You have a purpose for this problem. When it all comes together, You will get the glory for it.”

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, thank You that You are my God and that You are ordering my steps. Thank You that I can be free from trying to figure everything out on my own. I declare that I am in the palms of Your hands, and I am going to trust You from the bottom of my heart, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

*GOD ANSWERS PRAYER*

*TODAY’S SCRIPTURE*
PSALM 65:2 NIV
“You who answer prayer, to you all people will come.”

*TODAY’S WORD*
One of the great benefits of being a believer is that we have a God that hears prayers. Unlike man-made gods that only take offerings and cannot see or hear; our Almighty Father is a prayer-answering God. What a privilege!

Throughout the Bible, men of faith received great testimonies after putting their trust in God through prayers. Even Jesus Christ, the Son of God, did not begin his ministry without prayers and was recorded to be praying in several instances even up until his death on the Cross. Our Father God heard Him and He will hear you today.

It is therefore important that we take every situation to Him in prayer. Do not let your problem be the reason why you are far from God rather, let your problem draw you to prayer. Nothing is too big or too small for God to do. In actual fact, it is pride not to be able to take your problems to God in prayer. It means you are dependent on your ability and connections but not on God.

Cultivate a habit to pray about everything and anything. Our Father God is able. He is always ready to hear and answer you.

*PRAYER FOR TODAY*
“Father God, thank You that You are so kind and compassionate to me. Help me to see, hear, and know how You are answering my prayers. I want to feel Your presence in my life! Have mercy on me! Protect me from people who have ill intentions for me. Protect me from dangers that I am not aware of. Build my faith up day by day. My trust will always be in You and not on my strength, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
