Jeanne K Massage and Bodywork
Offering private yoga lessons, Thai bodywork, and massage therapy. Email me or PM for appointments
Hello friends, a couple of announcements. First is my new website- jeannekmassage.com! Second- I am looking to build 2 separate case studies for my yoga therapy certification to be completed. It is recommended that I know them very little for a clean slate, so please send suggestions for a candidate my way. They may come to me for any specific ailment that they view as a concern (i.e. addiction, mental health, physical limitations, chronic or acute issues, etc). Must commit to at least 6 different meetings with me over the course of roughly 6 months but could be sooner. My service is completely free, time of course should be respected. Meetings can also be a mix of in person or over phone/computer. Thank you for your support!!

A continuation of some of my favorite mobility drills. Start small and breathe deep. Regular practice will help with strength and confidence. Less overcompensation so the proper muscles can do their job.
2nd attempt (not a fan of social media haha). So I’ve been coming across a common theme lately- folks will tell me that they are injured and too scared to move. Or told not to. Or say they are too old. The problem of the injury oftentimes is because of a LACK of movement. We fall into patterns where we move linear, even with exercise and weight lifting. We need more asymmetrical movements, sideways, up, down, flexion/extension, overhead, TWISTING. I know I am not the first to say this, but some people may not be exposed to this type of information. Why do you think patients are now told after knee or hip surgeries to immediately start walking? Movement heals! Here are just a few of my favorite shoulder mobility drills, using weights to encourage strength within the movement. Stretching alone can cause laxity in joints and over time the elasticity of the muscle creates weakness. Move with purpose and fun.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been coming across a common theme which I would like to address. I know that I am not the first person to say this, but I also know that not everyone knows this information. - I often hear people say that they are injured and then feel too scared to move, or at some point they were told not to. The truth is, just like massage helps bring blood flow to an area, so too does movement. That and other things. Why do you think patients are immediately told to get up after a hip or knee surgery? Movement heals! The problem that started the injury often comes from the body not actually moving in all planes of movement regularly. Even in typical weight lifting it can be quite linear in approach. We need circular movements, asymmetrical, sideways, over head, flexion/extension, TWISTING. Here are just a few of my favorites of shoulder mobility using light weights to encourage stability within the movement. Stretching alone oftentimes is not enough- this coming from a yoga teacher.
