One of the biggest mistakes we see is eating less and less while trying to force the scale to move.
But menopause can change your body, your muscle mass, your energy needs and the way you respond to the habits that used to work for you.
The answer isnt always more restriction.
Sometimes its time to understand what your body needs now and adjust your strategy. π
You dont have to completely cut out carbs to make a change.
Try starting your meal with your protein and vegetables, then enjoy your starches afterward.
Its a simple habit that can help you build a more balanced plate without making your meals complicated.
Sometimes the easiest changes are the ones you can actually stick with. π
Sometimes happiness is the little things.
Good food, good company and a little treat you didnt need but absolutely wanted. π
With Hashimotos, nutrition can be an important part of the bigger picture.
That doesnt mean you need a complicated elimination diet or that one food is responsible for everything.
Focus on a balanced approach with nutrient rich foods, enough protein, fiber, hydration and meals that work for your body.
And if you have Hashimotos, your nutrition plan should be personalized to your individual needs and discussed with your healthcare provider. π
If youve noticed alcohol affecting you differently during menopause, youre not imagining it.
Alcohol can interfere with sleep and may make hot flashes and night sweats worse for some women.
So if that glass of w**e leaves you waking up at 2 AM feeling like your internal thermostat has completely lost its mindβ¦ there may be a connection. ππ₯
Your body changes during menopause, and sometimes the things you used to tolerate dont feel the same anymore. π
Heres a little nutrition trick you may not have heard about. π
When you cook foods like potatoes, rice or pasta and then cool them, some of the starch can reorganize into something called resistant starch.
That means some of the starch becomes harder for your body to digest, which can affect the blood sugar response.
So that leftover rice or potato in your fridge isnt necessarily a bad thing. π
Small changes in how you prepare food can make a difference.
Well at least somebody was rooting for me. π
The kind of motivation nobody talks about. π
Fatty liver disease can be a silent condition, meaning you may have few or no symptoms.
Thats why your health is about more than the number you see on the scale.
Your blood work, metabolic health, nutrition, movement and overall health all matter.
If youre concerned about your liver health, talk with your healthcare provider about whether testing is appropriate for you. π
Medication can be an important tool for some people.
But have you thought about what youre building alongside it?
Your nutrition habits.
Your protein intake.
Your strength.
Your daily movement.
Your relationship with food.
The goal is to have a plan that supports you during treatment and gives you healthy habits to continue with long term.
And if medication is part of your plan, any decision to reduce or stop it should be made with your healthcare provider. π
Maybe the problem isnt that you need more willpower.
Maybe you need an approach that doesnt make you feel like youre constantly depriving yourself. π
