Walking is so underrated
Check your posture as you walk, engage your core.

The thoracic spine is notorious for having poor mobility. Regular stretching usually isn't good enough. Targeting the spine itself, as opposed to the muscles, is usually more productive. Try this. Roll up a towel until you get a roll about 4" in diameter. You can even put tape around it to get it to hold its shape. Lay on your back with the rolled towel under your thoracic spine (anywhere from about T4-T12) oriented left/right. Have something under your head for support. Lay there for a couple minutes, breathing into the area, then move on to another area. This helps open up the joints of the spine, stretching the ligaments, and bringing in good blood flow. Do it daily.

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY PUBLISHES LARGEST STUDY EVER ON MASSAGE THERAPY USE
July 2024
"Many people receive massage therapy and for many reasons. But according to a new study – the largest and most comprehensive ever conducted on the subject – the prevalence of visits to massage therapists is higher than one might have imagined and the reasons may be surprising."
“What our study shows is that it’s probably not helpful any longer to label massage as an ‘alternative’ therapy, with all of the marginality that the term conveys.”
“Licensed massage therapists ought to be respected as mainstream practitioners, whose profession provides a therapeutic approach not just to address pain and functional challenges but to foster wellness and overall well-being, physical and emotional.
Everyone can benefit from working with a skilled massage therapist. They’re the hidden gems in the healthcare system.” - Jeff Levin, Ph.D., M.P.H., University Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health. (Robert Rogers/Baylor University)

Today I started a new training. It's both a continuation and a beginning. I laid all I know about massage and all the tools I've gathered aside for the weekend, to fully enter this path with a beginners excitement and curiousity!
In the coming days and months I'll be integrating all I learn and excited to share this part of my journey.
This evening after class I sat outside and listened to the rain and let all sink in.

Our bodies are fascinating - fascia work is amazing. I love getting to study and understand these connections and find more lasting relief for myself and my clients
Chronic shoulder problems? Maybe check out the opposite hip. The spiral line is a contiguous line of fascia that wraps around the body. Among other things, it connects the shoulder to the opposite hip. Shoulder sweeps can be a particularly useful stretch for addressing the shoulder-to-hip component of the spiral line. Here's a video of how to do it. https://rfr.bz/fl62wuc
