Owning a business isn’t just a 40 hour workweek. Let’s talk about it 👏🏼

I don’t think people truly understand how much goes on behind the scenes of owning a business.

Just because we’re done seeing clients for the day doesn’t mean our workday is over. In fact, sometimes that’s when the other half of our job begins. 😅

There’s tracking inventory, ordering supplies, creating content, responding to texts & emails, managing schedules, making updates to our websites & booking systems, reviewing consent forms, keeping up with QuickBooks, paying bills, doing laundry, cleaning, marketing, planning, & figuring out how to continue to grow.

Oh, & somewhere between all of that, we actually have to perform the services that keep our businesses running 😂

& the reality is, there’s ALWAYS something that needs to get done. Even when we’re not physically working, our minds are constantly running through the next 10 things on our to do lists.

& let’s talk about how that affects our personal lives & friendships.

Being friends with a business owner isn’t easy. Sometimes we take longer to respond. Sometimes we can’t make it to every gathering or event. Sometimes we’re so mentally exhausted by the end of the day that we just want to go home & do absolutely nothing.

It’s not bc we don’t care. It’s not bc we don’t value our friendships. & it’s definitely not bc we don’t WANT to be there.

Trust me, we’d probably LOVE to be at that dinner, birthday party, girls’ night, or whatever we’re missing. But something we’re trying to keep up with the responsibilities of building something that requires so much of our time & energy.

Running a business comes with responsibilities that don’t always fit into a 9-5 schedule.

We chose this life, & for many of us, we genuinely LOVE what we do. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t exhausting sometimes.

So here’s your reminder to check in on your business owner friends. 🤎

Invite them anyway. Ask how they’re doing. Give them grace while they can’t make it or don’t respond right away.

Bc I promise, most of us are trying our best to balance all of the hats we wear.
