Often I am asked what I enjoy about being a barber. There are a few things I enjoy IE the ability to set my own schedule, the ability to work with my hands, knowing what I put into it is what I’m going to get out of it, and many other things.

The thing I enjoy most is the relationships I build with my clients. For some, it’s just a haircut, a monthly/weekly appointment; for others, it’s therapy , 30 mins to an hour to just sit and forget all the things they carry before they’re sitting in my chair. An escape from the outside world. Sometimes I just listen; others, I provide advice and an outside perspective . I’ve seen the highs; I’ve been there for the birthdays , the birth of children , weddings , job interviews, the first dates, but I’ve also seen the lows. The funerals , the divorces , the legal troubles , losing a job, and so much more. It never mattered if the client was a college student , a cop, a former prisoner , a CEO , a veteran , in recovery , a Democrat , a Republican , black , white , male , female, or whatever. When you sit in my chair, you’re a human being, and I’ll always treat you like one. I’ll always provide them with the best service I can give them and always give them a place to laugh, to cry ,to vent, or just sit in silence. I say all that to say , what I enjoy most is building the trust and relationships with my clients. That’s what truly makes the trade fun for me.
