Lauren has such a loving and kind heart. She is respectful, easygoing, thoughtful, and someone who cares deeply about people. She stands firmly for justice, liberty and peace for all, and I admire the way she uses her voice. She has strong beliefs and opinions, but she never forces them on anyone. Instead, she shares what she knows, encourages others to think and learn, and does it from a place of love and peace.

This dining experience has been on my mind this evening.

Maybe because I’ve also been watching The Bear, and this season is touching my heart in ways I didn’t expect. Especially because I thought I was all cried out from all the past seasons.

Those who know me know I’m easily moved to tears, by stories that speak to the heart. I will cry a river.

Sitting at the chef’s counter, I found myself watching more than the food. I was watching the teamwork, the precision, the care, and the quiet passion behind every plate. It reminded me that people usually only see the finished experience. They rarely see everything that goes into creating it.

Watching this season of The Bear, has reminded me why I fell in love with esthetics in the first place.

After 26 years, what still fills my heart isn’t just the beautiful result. It’s the intention behind it. It’s creating a space where someone can exhale, feel cared for, and leave feeling just a little lighter than when they walked in.

Whether it’s a beautifully prepared meal or a facial experience, excellence is never an accident. It’s created with purpose, heart, and countless details that most people never see.

Twenty years ago, I opened the doors to Skin by Maisha.

This year also marks 26 years as a licensed esthetician.

As I reflect on both milestones, what speaks the loudest is this: Thank you, God.

I recently learned the color indigo is connected with Juneteenth and symbolizes prosperity, resilience, and a rich cultural legacy. The deep blue serves as a reminder of both struggle and triumph. 💙
