Dear Friends, Family, Clients, and Community of Damion Hunter:

I’m writing on behalf of Damion’s immediate family—his wife Mimi, mother Yvonne, sister Tamisha, brothers Derrick and Lonnie, son Elam, and daughters Sepia and Sarai—to convey their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of messages, calls, and support, generally, that so many of you have extended them in these difficult days since Damion’s passing.

This post also serves to clarify details about plans for celebrating Damion’s remarkable life.

First, there will be a memorial on Thursday, October 5 at 11AM at Greater St. Paul Church, 1827 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland.

Second, there will be a celebration of Damion's life on Friday October 6, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM, at his barber shop, Megah Brown’s, 1733 Jefferson St., Oakland. We will share more details about this event in the next couple of days.

It’s been a long while since I posted anything. With a new patron relaxing in the barber chair every thirty minutes, it is challenging to grab my iPhone and seize each moment. But with this kid, I had to. His baseball shades made me chuckle all morning. My inner child was reawakened with the memory of Macho Man Randy Savage because of his shades🥶.

So, in comes this happy kid with the biggest smile on his face. *I knew I was in trouble then*
He says, “I want a Gumby”. 😱 I then proceeded to tell him that I cut that same style on myself in the ninth grade!

OG barbers are the best. New aged barbers have never seen or rocked this hairstyle.
The kid screamed out, “I love it”!!!
Job well done.

The shutdown has been lifted! May our award winning services and awesome conversations, welcome you brave souls back in.

It’s been a while. I really missed the sound of my clippers. I missed sending folk out with my affirmation. Now, I proudly welcome all back to Megah Browns. The closure was unwanted yet needed. Learned to cut around a mask and still provide a service that commands attentions and compliments. Boom!

I know it's been a while since my last post. I'm currently on vacation in NY for an entire work week. Looks like this will be an annual adventure for my future barbers and I to build relationships and also to stress the much needed time to detach from the rat race.
