To our Manifesta family:

Due to the shelter-in-place order in the Bay Area, we are temporarily closing the salon—effective today, Tuesday 3/17. We will reopen on April 8th, 2020, if it’s safe and the order is lifted.

During this time we’ll be working remotely, returning messages, and allowing clients to reschedule and book appointments. If you have previously scheduled appointments on days during the shelter-in-place order, we will individually reach out to you. We imagine that time slots in our salon will book quickly upon reopening. If you already have a date and time in mind, please let us know so we can get that scheduled for you!

We are closing with heavy hearts, but we take our mission to protect the health of our staff, clients, and community seriously. As you all know, we are typically open 5 days a week. This is the first time we have closed our salon for more than 3 weeks in over 7 years of operating. At this time, there are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus amongst our staff and clientele. However, evidence regarding COVID-19 shows that the best way to ensure this pandemic threatens as few people as possible, is through social distancing.

We hope that by closing, other businesses will take part in the momentum of people taking deliberate action to observe the shelter-in-place order. If ours and others’ measures to encourage social distancing are successful, our hospitals won’t be overcrowded and doctors, nurses, and patients will have a fighting chance at combating the Coronavirus.

As a small business, we—and the rest of us here in Oakland—are indubitably experiencing the emotional and financial ramifications of these events. If it is feasible for you to support the salon during this tough time, please consider buying an electronic gift certificate. In times like these, community is all we have.
