Part 1 Transformation and I’m not gonna lie… I honestly wasn’t sure how much curl pattern we were going to see with this one. 👀…

She’s worn her hair straight for YEARS, so heat has been a huge part of her routine — traditional flat irons, steam flat irons, and everything in between. Add in multiple rounds of at-home color, ponytails, years of compromised ends, AND never having a curly cut… her curls were very, very weak. Whenever she would try to wear her hair curly at home, the shape and styling just weren’t working in her favor. So naturally, she would go right back to the flat iron… and the cycle continued.✨

When I first saw the front of her hair, I honestly would’ve guessed she didn’t have much texture left. But once I saw the back of her head, I knew there was more curl pattern there than what was showing through in the front. So this appointment wasn’t about throwing some products in and hoping for curls. I needed to figure out what was keeping her hair from responding the way it should.💖

And after everything this hair had been through, I genuinely didn’t know how much texture we were going to be able to bring back. 👀🩷🩷🩷 But I also knew she had potential based on the texture in the back!🫶🏼

I’m looking at curly hair a little differently lately. 👀🩷

Instead of only asking, “Is this high or low porosity?” I’m learning to ask:

How is this hair actually interacting with water?👀👀

My client takes incredible care of her hair, but we still had to look deeper to understand why she wasn’t getting the hydration I knew her hair was capable of. I couldn’t wait to bring this back to the salon to help my clients get a better understanding of truly hydrating their hair!💖💖

A huge part of this shift in my thinking has come from learning through Acacia| Hair Science| Curl Specialist Fiber Ecology research and diving deeper into how the hair fiber functions and what true hydration actually looks like!!!☺️💖💫

Because sometimes your hair doesn’t need another product or a chart to help you understand how to properly hydrate your hair.🫶🏼

What I’m really learning is products are tools, but understanding the fiber is the skill.
