Hard water . Minerals and metals (such as Iron like in this clients hair) found in your water can build up in your hair and cause color changes- even turning it orange. If you have hard water
(like many of my clients do)
there are shower head filters you can buy to help remove those minerals out of your water, or try working a clarifying shampoo into your regimen but be cautious not to use that too often either. We did our first Metal Detox treatment on this clients hair and although we still have work ahead of us even this first treatment began to make a visual difference. We are going to continue to work towards getting her hair healthy but for our very first appointment and treatment I am confident we can get her hair healthier and eventually get her to a more complimentary color of blonde. The hair actually gets less brittle and softer in addition to the color changing as the metal is detoxifying. Science is so cool! 😎
A great visual from behind the chair… same client 11 weeks apart… even when lifted to the proper level all blonde can become yellowish or “brassy” over time. (And reaching for that purple shampoo can make the hair darker as well as dry it out if you’re not careful… )
—————
All blondes eventually will turn yellow. It stinks but it's a fact and Here's the main reasons why …
1. Frequent washing. Your gloss/ toner does not last forever. It will eventually wash its way out of your hair and you will be left with the warmth underneath. The more you wash (and the HOTTER your water ) the quicker this will occur.
2. Hard water . Minerals and metals found in your water can build up in your hair. If you have hard water (like many of my clients do) there are shower head filters you can buy to help remove those minerals out of your water, or try working a clarifying shampoo into your cleansing regime- however be cautious about how often you use this as well.
3. Sun exposure / excessive heat.
Think about what happens to fabrics after repeated sun exposure. The Color fades. Same goes for excessive heat styling.
Think an iron left too long on a white shirt. It burns and Yellows.
The same principles apply to your hair.
4. Poor products. Over the counter shampoos contain harsher detergents that will wash that color right down the drain.
