While I was in esthetician school finishing my hours, I was served papers for custody of my son.

There was no closure. No time to process it. My hand was forced.

The months that followed were filled with court dates, scrutiny, financial exhaustion, stress, and emotional exhaustion. The support I thought I had turned out to be misleading and eventually became a place where I experienced betrayal.

I was withheld in Texas for two months, until my first court hearing granted my son and me the ability to return home to California.
And when I got to California, that’s when the real healing began.

I had $11 to my name and a baby.

I learned a lesson I will never forget: the same hands that feed you can also starve you.

I promised myself I would never be in that position again. I never wanted to be the mom who helped a man build everything, only to be left with nothing when the relationship ended.

So yes, I’m traumatized.

Yes, I’m protective of my independence.

And yes, I built something that no one could take away from me.

I built this business hoping that one day it would feed my son.

I built it because I needed something that belonged to me.

Something I could fall back on.

Something I could grow.

Something that could never be taken from me.

This is what I built from having nothing.

Because this business isn’t just a business to me.

It represents independence. It represents rebuilding. And it represents what I was able to create when I had almost nothing.

No one can take away the work I put into becoming the woman and mother I am today.
