Extensions can create absolutely beautiful transformations—but they’re also a service that requires proper education, training, and a deep understanding of the hair and scalp.

In my professional opinion, extensions should never be something we simply “figure out as we go.” There are too many details that directly affect the health and integrity of your client’s natural hair.

From the very beginning, everything matters—the parting, placement, bead selection, tension, stitching, weight distribution, and how each row works with the natural growth pattern of the hair.

I’ve had to correct far too many extension applications where lack of education resulted in unnecessary tension, discomfort, breakage, or compromised hair.

These photos show two rows on fine hair, and this is exactly why the details matter.

Every section is intentional.
Every stitch has a purpose.
The placement respects the natural hair and follicles.
The rows should feel secure and comfortable—never painful.
And the finished result should blend beautifully while protecting the hair underneath.

Extensions aren’t just about making the hair look incredible when your client leaves the salon.

What’s happening underneath matters just as much.

Education will always come first.

After doing hair for over 30 years, I think we’ve made hair WAY too complicated.

Somewhere along the way, hair became another thing women feel like they have to keep up with.

The perfect blonde. The newest trend. The right products. The right routine. Being in the salon every six weeks.

And bestie… it doesn’t have to be that serious.

Your hair should work for your life, not the other way around.

If you only want to come in every four months, let’s create something that grows out beautifully.

If you don’t want to spend 45 minutes styling your hair every morning, let’s not give you a haircut that requires it.

If you’re seeing gray and you’re not sure you even want to cover it—maybe we don’t.

After all these years behind the chair, I’ve realized the goal was never perfect hair.
