As a way for us to help women, Eccentrics The Salon is hosting a wellness event this month. Rooted in Confidence: A Wellness Experience for Women, where we’ll continue the conversation around breast health, hair loss, menopause, and total wellness.

Rooted in Confidence is more than a wellness event. It is a space for women to come together, learn, reflect, and have honest conversations about the things that affect us from the inside out.

This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are creating space for conversations that matter. From breast health and early awareness to hair loss, menopause, emotional wellness, skincare, nutrition, and self-care, this experience is designed to support the whole woman.

Some moments remind you just how far you’ve come.

Around 1985, after graduating from beauty school, I was a very young stylist who knew I wanted to build a career in cosmetology. Ms. Jean Smith gave me one of my very first opportunities when she invited me to work at her salon in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

I started working with clients right away. I learned, I grew, and I had the opportunity to work alongside Ms. Jean, an excellent hairstylist who had already built a loyal clientele, as well as her daughters.

That salon on B&A Boulevard became part of the beginning of my story.

Nearly four decades later, I am still standing behind the chair, still serving clients, still growing, and now creating products of my own.

Having Ms. Jean attend the launch of J’Roshe’ Hair & Scalp Care was such a special full-circle moment for me. The woman who gave me an opportunity at the beginning of my career was there to witness another chapter unfold.

Ms. Jean, thank you for giving that young stylist a chance all those years ago and for coming to support me at this special milestone.

Looking through these photos, I see more than a product launch. I see people who helped shape the woman I am today. 🤍

The launch of J’Roshe Cosmetics was a celebration of a new chapter, but it was also a reminder of the journey that brought me here. Being in the room with people who have encouraged me, challenged me, shared their wisdom, and believed in me made this milestone especially meaningful.

Some have known me for years. Others became part of my story along the way. Seeing those familiar faces brought back memories of where I started and reminded me that so much of who I am has been shaped by the people around me.

Together, we celebrated more than products. We celebrated a vision becoming a reality, the relationships behind it, and the purpose that continues to move me forward. Named in honor of my mother and sisters, J’Roshe’ carries a deeply personal part of my story. Sharing this moment with people who are also part of that story is something I will always treasure.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, encouraged, and helped bring this evening together. Your presence meant more than you know.

There's a moment every founder has, staring at a blank page, trying to find the right name for something that means everything to them.

For me, that moment wasn't really a search. It was a homecoming.

I didn't want a name that just sounded good. I wanted a name that meant something, that carried the people who made me who I am. So instead of starting from scratch, I looked backward, to the women who raised me, loved me and shaped every part of this journey.

I thought of my mother, Joan. Steady. Loving. The first person who ever taught me what it meant to care for someone else before yourself.

I thought of my baby sister, Rochic. The one who kept us laughing, who reminded us that even in hard seasons, there was still room for lightness.

And I thought of my sister, Shelia. Whose strength through hair loss is the very reason this brand exists at all.

Joan. Rochic. Shelia.

J. Ro. She.

JRoshe'.

A name stitched together from three women I love, two of whom I've had to say goodbye to, and one who inspired this entire mission simply by living through hers.

This isn't just a hair and scalp care line to me. It's a way of keeping them close. Of letting their names live on in something that will comfort and heal others, the same way they comforted and healed me.

So when you hear "JRoshe'," I hope you'll feel it too, not just a product, but a family, wrapped in every bottle.

Hair loss doesn't just change how you look. It changes how you're held.

At Eccentrics The Salon, we specialize in hair loss and scalp care, but over the years, we've learned that our clients aren't just looking for a service. They're looking for somewhere safe to land.

Someone going through chemotherapy doesn't just need a wig consultation. She needs someone who understands that her scalp is tender, that her sense of self feels unfamiliar, that she's grieving something even as she's fighting for her life.

Someone experiencing alopecia doesn't just need a treatment plan. They need someone who won't rush the conversation, who will explain what's happening to their body and give them real, informed options instead of vague reassurance.

And often, the person sitting in the chair isn't alone. There's a daughter, a sister, a friend, standing quietly beside them. Showing up. Holding the moment together.

This is the part of our work that doesn't always make it into a service menu. But it's the part that matters most.

Hair loss can come from illness, medication, genetics, hormonal changes or stress. The causes vary. What doesn't vary is the need for compassion, expertise, and a team that treats the whole person, not just the hair.

That's what we've built at Eccentrics The Salon. And it's what we'll keep building, one client, one story, one moment of "you're not alone" at a time.
