How we started

My name is Marlén Lopez, most of my clients know me by “MJ”.

My passion for hair styling began at a young age. I attended Cosmetology School at the age of 16. I would wake up early every morning to get ready for Cosmo school and to attend my regular high school schedule. At that point I was already cutting hair on my parents porch, i would have people sit on a bucket and throw a plastic bag over them as a cape. I was eager to learn everything their was to learn about hair!! I soon found my self surround by young Men and Women who had the same love for this industry as i did. As time went on i slowly started losing interest for Cosmo, all I wanted to do was cut! I liked creating new hair cuts, I wasn't much of a fan for anything that had to do with chemicals such as colors or perms. I was so close to graduating from the cosmetology program but i decided it wasn't for me. I then enrolled at WSU in their Foreign Languages program leaving behind anything that had to do with hair. I decided that I needed to go back to school but this time i was going to enroll in school to become a Barber.

I graduated as a Barber and decided it was time to look for a place to work. I had found a place to cut but i felt like there was something else for me to do so I decided to go off on my own and do things a little different. I had a little hair studio in my parents home, I had always had the idea that i wanted to open up a Barber Shop and i would call it Five O’Clock Shadow Barber shop. One day i woke up and said I guess we are opening up a shop!!!! 6 months later on February 4th 2017 we opened our door to our community. We are a three man shop we have Kayla, Miguel and my self. Come in by and get a fresh cut we are more than happy to meet you!!!
