To talk or not to talk? Talking during a massage is one thing, and sometimes also helpful, but Manual Lymphatic Drainage is different. It’s subtle work, in subtle spaces.

This means as a therapist we need to be listening to the skin and tissue below the surface. It’s difficult to do that when we’re catching up on the latest “T” from our clients.

It’s ok to ask them to be silent and simply be in their body. The tissue speaks a thousand words without making an audible sound and it’s amazing when our clients get to listen to what their own body is telling them. When it comes to Manual Lymphatic Drainage, silence is golden 🙌

Our code of ethics is there for a reason. We are not Dr’s and cannot diagnose clients. They come to us with trust in our education and ability. We have to respect those boundaries. We can guide and refer, but not tell someone they have a pathology😵‍💫

If you’re researching plastic surgeons, you should also be researching lymphatic therapists with just as much discernment.

Not all therapists are the same, so vetting is important🤓

✅ Where did you receive your lymphatic training? How many hours? Did you learn online or in person?
✅ How often do you recertify? …or take continuing MLD education.
✅ Does your MLD cause pain?
✅ How many clients do you see for MLD?
✅ How often do you personally receive MLD.
