This transformation was all about creating a rich, dimensional copper—but here’s the part you might not guess…

I added a touch of violet to the formula.

Why violet in a copper? Because formulation isn’t always about adding more of the color you want. Sometimes it’s about controlling the tones already present so the finished color has the richness, balance and depth you’re looking for.

That tiny adjustment helped me create a copper that was vibrant without becoming overly orange or brassy.

And THAT is what I mean by Beyond the Formula.

Don’t be afraid of an unexpected tone in your formula. Used intentionally, a small amount can completely change the personality of your finished color.
