PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: Offered on our Golden Triangle campus, students in the Barbering/Stylist program can opt to pursue a three-semester technical certificate or a four-semester Associate of Applied Science degree. Among other things, students learn about hair cutting, shaving, shampooing, hair coloring and lightening, and chemical texture services. Students are also taught business skills, entrepreneurship, safety and sanitation, as well as preparation for the state exam. Barbering student Yuri Talavera said one thing she most enjoys about Barbering is helping others feel good about themselves. “If you get a good haircut, it makes you feel good and it brings your self-esteem up.” After she graduates in July, Talavera plans on working at a barbering shop to gain experience with hopes of opening her own business one day. Barbering is enrolling students for the fall term.
