When it comes to choosing between traditional makeup and airbrush makeup, especially for special events like weddings or professional photo shoots, it’s essential to understand the benefits of each to make the best decision for your needs. Here’s a breakdown:

Traditional Makeup:
Versatility: Traditional makeup comes in a vast range of products suitable for every skin type and tone. You can achieve any look, from the most natural to the most dramatic, with traditional makeup products which include creams, liquids and powders.

Touch-ups: It’s easier to touch up traditional makeup throughout the day. You can usually reapply powder and blend a bit more even after it’s set.

Texture Options: Traditional makeup offers various finishes, including matte, satin, or dewy, giving you the flexibility to choose the best option for your skin’s needs.

Cost-Effectiveness: Generally, traditional makeup is more affordable than airbrush makeup, both in terms of the initial investment for kits and the cost of makeup products.

Airbrush Makeup:
Longevity: Airbrush makeup is known for its durability and resistance to sweat and tears, making it ideal for long events. Additionally, humid climates work great with airbrush makeup.

Lightweight Feel: Many people report that airbrush makeup feels lighter on the skin, which can be a significant advantage for comfort during long wear times.

Flawless Finish: Airbrush makeup provides a smooth, even skin tone appearance that many find to be flawless. It’s especially popular for high-definition photography and videography because it minimizes the look of pores, fine lines and an oily shine.

Quick Application: Once mastered, airbrush application can be quicker than traditional methods, especially for foundation, as it spreads evenly and rapidly across the skin.

My name is Pearl and I’ve been a professional makeup artist for over 7 years now! Crazy! I used to be based out of the Olympia area of Washington but recently relocated further north to Renton near Seattle.

I bought a house with my partner, got engaged January 2023 and spend most my evenings planning my destination wedding in Thailand for March, 2024.

made such a beautiful bride! It’s no secret I love neutral champagne shimmery eyeshadow. I feel they flatter so many skin tones including from warm to cool.

With Megan’s gorgeous tan we decided on a mauve pink lip color to brighten the whole look and give a touch of contrast.

I always adore doing makeup on this face ❤️ from engagement photos to events to the wedding day and even a maternity photo shoot! Congrats Megan and Sam for the exciting times ahead!!!

Neutral makeup is so flattering! I love brown tones, creams, champagne shimmery colors, bright inner corners, lightly filled in brows and perfect foundation color matches.

If you want to look on the natural end of the makeup spectrum, use colors that naturally occur on your bare face!

My gorgeous client, Paris, wanted my signature neutral glam makeup look for her engagement photo shoot.

While I specialize in makeup, I also offer simple hair styling for photo sessions! We did a soft curl with volume at the roots.

Professional photos (2) ➡️ iPhone selfies outside in the sun right after makeup application (2) ➡️ iPhone selfies 12 hours later in front of a ring light (2).

When people say your makeup will look washed out in the photos on your wedding day so go heavy … please please do not settle for cakey thick makeup. Even in the iPhone images the makeup still looks fresh, not thick and never cakey.

Of course, if you hardly wear makeup day to day but want to have flawless makeup on your wedding day, the makeup might FEEL like a lot to you personally. I highly recommend booking bridal trials, doing your hair a little and dressing up a tad so you can see all of the elements together. I also highly encourage you take photos throughout the day so you can really see how the makeup wears. Every face is different and not very makeup product works for every person. You can gauge how you feel about wearing “a full face” of makeup at the end of the day and decide whether you want things more intense or less for your big day.

Remember, there’s a big difference between heavy makeup under studio lighting and heavy makeup in natural lighting. I find most of my brides want to feel and look beautiful IN PERSON, not just when looking back at their photos. Find makeup for your wedding day that feels like you, you are comfortable in AND look beautiful photographed. There is a happy medium here!

What a stunning color palette. While I am a neutral girl through and through I do appreciate color in a wedding. This adorable wedding set up had bright pastels, whimsical flowers and such a dreamy, sophisticated and flirty effect.
