My friend Joe died this week.

Now the whole world is upside down. It’s the same place but it seems unrecognizable.

There are things I still know for certain: Joe McGuire is the strongest man I have ever known. He is also one of the smartest men I have ever known. He taught me so much over the years about strength, sass, courage, and relationships. He is more to me than a friend, he is and will always be chosen family. As is often the case with family, our bond was incredibly deep, complicated, important, joyous, messy, etc… but more than anything: it was filled with so much love.

The problem is: we always think we have more time than we do: tell people you love them more than you think is necessary.

Joe, I know you were getting tired. Now you can rest easy brother, we will see each other again. Alex, Ginny, Wy, and I love you.

🌈Pride🌈 is right around the corner, so I think it’s time for you to schedule your *big gay haircut* for 2026
