Advocacy works! The CDC’s Asthma program is back – for now. In April, the entire staff was laid off. And we took immediate action to save the program.
The staff have now been reinstated! But our work isn’t finished.
The reinstatement acknowledges the value of this program: saved lives and money! For every $1 spent, $71 in health care costs are saved. And deaths from asthma are down 44%.
Unfortunately, the President’s proposed budget does NOT include continued funding for this vital program.
That means it could be completely eliminated by the end of September unless we act now.
Take action today and tell your members of Congress to include funding for the National Asthma Control Program in the upcoming budget: https://www.votervoice.net/iframes/AAFAmerica/Campaigns/126732/Respond
