This is a glimpse at the journey with Alopecia for our client . Sondra has been a client of ToriHair since the beginning of her Alopecia journey. From the early days, where privacy, support and compassion were a key necessity to helping her embrace toppers and eventually wigs.

Now Sondra is part of our team helping us advocate for women with hair loss and co-leading our support group The Sisterhood of Confidence. We share the same passion for instilling confidence in women experiencing hair loss and the philosophy that no woman should have to navigate this journey alone.

It’s Never Just Hair

Sometimes I wish people could see what it really means to work with women experiencing hair loss.

Because in one week, I can experience an entire lifetime of emotions alongside the women who walk through my studio doors.

I sit with women who have just received a cancer diagnosis. Women who are grieving the hair they once had. Women who have spent years hiding their thinning hair, avoiding photographs, declining invitations, or feeling like they’ve lost a piece of themselves.

I meet women who haven’t even told their husbands, friends, or family how much their hair loss is affecting them.

Some walk through my door holding back tears. Some are scared. Some are embarrassed. Some have spent thousands of dollars trying to find a solution, only to be left feeling defeated.

And sometimes, I’m the first person they’ve ever opened up to about it.

We talk about so much more than wigs and toppers.

We talk about menopause. We talk about cancer. We talk about aging. We talk about marriages, children, grief, fear, and all the changes life throws our way.

We laugh. We cry. We hug.

And then there are those moments I’ll never get tired of…

When a woman puts on her new hair, looks in the mirror, and smiles for the first time in what feels like forever.

When she says, “Oh my gosh, I look like ME again.”

When she sends me a picture from her vacation because she finally felt confident enough to get in front of the camera.

Or when she tells me she went out to dinner without worrying about whether someone could see her scalp.

Those moments are why I do what I do.

After more than two decades of working with women experiencing hair loss, one thing I know for certain is that it’s NEVER just about the hair.

It’s about identity. It’s about vulnerability. It’s about trust. It’s about helping a woman feel comfortable in her own skin again.

Sometimes I’m a stylist. Sometimes I’m an educator. Sometimes I’m a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, or simply someone who understands without judgment.

And somewhere along the way, these women become so much more than clients. They become friends. They become family.

I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

To every woman who has ever sat in my chair, trusted me with your hair loss journey, shared your diagnosis, your fears, your tears, and your victories…

Thank you for allowing me into such a personal part of your life.

Thank you for trusting me during moments when you may not have felt like yourself. Thank you for the hugs, the laughter, the tears, and the friendships that have grown over the years.

You may think I’m the one helping you, but I hope you know how much each of you has touched my life, too.

I didn’t build ToriHair simply to sell wigs and toppers.

I built it to create a place where women feel seen, heard, understood, and beautiful, regardless of how much hair they have on their heads.

Because sometimes restoring someone’s hair is really about helping them rediscover a little piece of themselves.

And being trusted to be part of that journey will always be one of the greatest privileges of my life.

With love, Tracy ❤️

Alopecia affects an estimated 7 million people in the US and 160 million people worldwide, an autoimmune form of hair loss.

The lifetime risk of experiencing Alopecia is only 2%. It is the second most common form of hair loss overall behind male and female pattern baldness.

Of those with alopecia aerate, about 5% develop alopecia totals (total scalp hair loss) and 1% develop alopecia universals (total body hair loss).
